The Lord is Omniscient...He knows everything from beginning to end. Even now, He knows who will be saved and destroyed.
God does not work with trickery, games, and mystery similar to the occult and other practices led by Satan. Our Father is clear, direct, and honest about what he expects and promises.
The Lord does not wish to confuse His children so they will live in fear of eternal damnation everyday of their lives. What loving parent would ever bestow that upon their children?
Do not listen to human opinion, guessing, and interpretation to this question...Listen to the Word of God!!!
The Bible, inspired by God, provides straightforward, explicit, and unambiguous instructions on how Believers will know if their names will be written in the Book of Life.
1 John 5:13 states: I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may KNOW that you have eternal life.
Ephesians 1:13 says you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit.
Romans 10:9 says if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
John 3:16 says God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Despite our love and belief in God, we are still imperfect, and demonic influences, oppression, or just our own personal weaknesses may cause us to have doubts and worry at times.
NOTE: Satan attacks and tempts Believers more aggressively to make us question God's Love for us. But God promises He will never allow us to endure more than we can handle.
Despite our moments of weakness, Philippians 1:6 promises that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. We are growing wiser, stronger, and more faithful each day. Trust God...He knows exactly what we need. As you can see...the above scriptures don't beat around the bush, convey inuendo, or imply who will or will not be saved: they are clear!!
To answer your question: When a Believer walks in Faith, Obeys the Word of God, and has completely surrendered to the Lord and Trusts him with their whole heart, mind, and soul, He or She has the ASSURANCE of salvation as PROMISED and REVEALED by God, and eternal SECURITY.

What about free will?
Since Lucifer and his legions were thrown out of Heaven before the earth was made and God gave Lucifer the earth to run his empire. Man has free will to pick between good or evil
Adam and Eve disobeyed God ever since then man and women has to choose the path they will take in life.
Heaven or Hell.
Don't believe (A Christian said) as a lot of so called Christians don't know what they are talking about.
Even this post should be food for thought as I might be full of beans too, but its what I found to be true and I am still seeking and searching as this question has been posed by people a lot smarter then I

No faith is something you are born with, this is your connection to God. You will know and not just believe you know. God does things for you good and bad things for ones against you, just like a father would do for you. And you quote is almost the scriptures there; Revelation 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Ephesians 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
Romans 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Romans 8:30 Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

Well God does not pre-destine persons. The book of life is more closely to Gods memory. Not necessarily a literal book.
Really, look at what Jesus mentioned, there are those that said they did things in his name, but they were not actually doing his will. So if a person dies, God will remember them because of their faith in Jesus ransom, and what they did as part of Gods will because of that knowledge which was teaching and preaching to people as Jesus orders his followers to do, which was again stated as such with the apostle Paul, acts 10:42.

We will know on Judgement Day whether our names are in the Book of Life. It all goes back to whether you have accepted Jesus Christ into your heart.
Jesus Christ said, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No ones comes to the Father except through Me."

God doesn't tell us who is written in the Book of Life..however scripture tells us what we must do to be saved and what things we must do then and continue to do..some people believe they know that they are in there.

The Book of Life is the collective unconscious record (memory) of all souls, therefore all souls are included. All souls were created by God in his image ... all is One with God and we will all return to God.

That verse is talking about Jesus's apostals. He elected them, they did not choose him. As for knowing, you know in your heart when you recieve the holy spirit. So the holy spirit lets you know that you are saved.
