My lab mix is 8 months old, we already got him fixed. He walked him at least once a week as time does not allow more since it gets dark early now.
He is so hyper, he jumps and pulls me leaving him with little control.

Hi Ck_Abella!!
A young, exuberant pup does not behave with the same decorum as an older, mature dog, does not necessarily mean that the dog is hyper active. Many active puppies learn to settle with maturity. look article: http://www.askedweb.com/askedweb/Hyper_Dog/
All dogs benefit from exercise...for the hyper dog, it is a daily must.
- Long walks at a brisk pace, ball and frisbee playing, fetch and 'find-it' games, will help him to expend some of his boundless energy.
- Provide him with safe, chewable toys in your absence, preferably with your scent on them.
- If he likes to dig, provide him with a 'sand box'...a place where he can dig without destroying your lawn or garden area.
Confinement to a crate or portable kennel is not a jail sentence to a dog. Dogs are denning animals and a crate can provide the same measure of security that the den offers in the wild.

I have a purebred Lab and the only thing that kept and keeps him calm is lots of exercise. If I can not walk him I play fetch with him. I just stand on the deck and throw snowballs or a ball. It is dark but I do not have to venture off the deck. Without the proper amount he can become destructive, Labs have tons of energy and when not vented they will become unruly(as with lots of breeds). I also have a second dog that plays constantly with him and tires him out, and I also provide him with bullysticks and tendons to so he can chew on something and ease his flustrations.

He is bored and not getting enough excercise. You may have a big backyard but he needs some human interaction and someone to play with him. Even if you give him 15 or 20 minutes a day of play time with you....throw the ball, etc.it will help. Also, one walk a week isn't enough. He needs it daily. If you do these things you will see a positive change in him pretty quickly.

If you don't have time for walks then play with him in the yard. Throw a ball for him. Some dogs will run around when they are alone, while others need someone to run around with or something to chase (a ball). He is definately in need of exercise.
I understand though. When I was working and going to school I sometimes didn't have a lot of time for my dog. She would have pent up energy and when I would walk around the house she would attack my feet. So good luck with your dog!

An FN Five-Seven or a Glock 19 should do the trick.

EXERCISE!!!! He should be run once a day at least. He is a puppy and needs to use that energy in a proper manner rather then acting out. You may also wanna consider puppy school. Jenelle, CVT

He wants excersize. How about a fenced in yard where he can tire himself out.Play with him regularly.A time to run,,a time to play,,a time to eat,,a time to pee,,a time to sleep. They are like kids.Good luck.
