If your laptop has a Digital DVI, you can also try a DVI-to-HDMI cable. However, some old TVs don't support PC timing over HDMI, so you may get underscan or overscan issues.
If you get nice crisp text with your current setup, let it be.

Because you are using a laptop with a limited number of video output, the only good choice you have is DVI. Try to find a good cable with gold plated coating to ensure that signal is transferred faster and with less deterioration.

Should you have no other choice but to use S-Video, try to use a top quality S-Video Cable (ie. Monster Cable), but don't expect a clear picture.

Your best move is to use a normal PC and install a Graphics Card (ie. nVidia GeForce or ATI Radeon) that can output in HDMI format. Connect this directly into the HDMI input on your TV.

Exactly what everyone else is saying. If you can get a DVI to HDMI cable that works, then do that. Hands down HDMI is the best connection, so get that.

try top clicking on the pc and going to "residences", then click on the "settings" tab and under the "demonstrate" drop down, set up distinctive video demonstrate gadgets. the concern is maximum probable with the aid of actuality that the determination you attempt to export is distinctive than what the television accepts, so in case you placed it up as a 2d computer screen verify you have it set to a minimum of a few thing like 1369x768 (if that is 720p).
