Every program that I've tried hasn't recognized my webcam but Yahoo Messenger does. I have used Amcap (if anyone knows what that is) and it recognizes it abut yet it saves the files in "Microsoft AVI" which doesn't work with anything. I couldn't find any free converters that would help in converting them. I need this to put a video blog up on YouTube. Any help in this would be great. Thanks.

Your webcam should have had software that came with it, but failing that check again in Amcap to see if there's an option to changed the codec, because I know I've had problems with other people seeing mAVI too, but other formats tend to work just fine. Otherwise, I can suggest Nero 7.
