What is the longest amount of time you have ever tried to get a girl to like you before she finally came around to like you back?
Or what is the longest time you have ever spent trying to get that one girl you felt you were desperately in love with before finally something happened that made you give up the chase and quit?

I'm asking because I just finished watching Futurama and realized it took Fry like 4 seasons to finally win over Leela and also thought about all those other classic sitcoms which featured situations like this...

...and of course I'm asking because I've been after a girl for 9 months, and while she tolerates some of my romantic advances and gestures from time to time, she still isn't interested in me in anyway except on the platonic friend level.

Side Note: She knows I like her, I've told her many times in many different ways and have repeatedly asked her out. But still I remain in the 'friend' camp.

I think it is time to give up on her and move on to someone else. The long term chase works only on TV.

In real life, the girl comes back only if she breaks up with another boyfriend.

I'm sorry to say that you're not her type. If you were then she would've went for you from day one. If you're hoping that your unique charms will grow on her then you're just wasting your time. That energy would be better spent on someone who wants you. I've had guy friends do this to me alot. It's annoying. If you don't stop you may lose her as a friend altogether. Try dating another girl. Forget about her, she's not thinking about you. I'm only saying this to spare you of getting hurt. Even if you convince her to go out with you, she'll just cheat on you anyhow. You're not what she's looking for. And she's doing everything to let you know.

I was after a girl for 2 years. We started dating about a month ago and broke up yesterday. I still love her so I guess the chase is still on

You know. I waited for woman whom I really liked in the past , who was my very best female friend. I loved her like I've never loves a women before! =( Unfortunately, she was married and eventually went back to her husband I guess. she chose her huband over me. I never slept with her, but I still had deep, intense feelings for her, in spite of her marriage. I would have asked her to marry me,but it didn't happen. Anyway, I waited
10 years for her to be available and in the end...I lost her. So, there you have it!...10 years! And a very painful lesson to learn!
The lesson is ----"Never ever fall in love with a married woman!"
