Can't help you bleach your hair but i do have two stories about others encounters with bleach
Story 1
I had 2 friends who thought bleaching 1 girls hair at home was a good idea it got all messed up and her hair went white so they had to rush to a salon and get her hair dyed back to its original colour cost them a small fortune but on the plus side they got lots of photos of them yelling at each other and the unlucky candidate looking miserable in the salon with a bright white Afro FUNNIEST THING EVER laughed about it for ages.
Story 2
another friend decided a lighter blond hair style would suit her she decided to do it at home i have no idea what she used but it came out uneven and she had to wait to grow out. (she is now studying to be a hair dresser)
Good luck

You can do anything a salon can do at home, and for a lot less money, you just need the right products.
First, don't go to the drugstore to get your products!
You need to go to a local Beauty Supply store, like a Sally store. If you want your hair white you do need to know that this will be a long process. You need to start with a color stripper, this will remove all the previous hair color and even your natural pigment from your hair. Read the directions, but know that even with recommended times you can always keep it on for another half hour or even longer. I once left it on (and even re-applied) for an hour and a half and my hair did not burn or fall out. Your hair may turn out to be a light orange or blonde color. If it turns out orange you may want to re-apply after you wash and dry your hair. Don't apply to wet hair.
You do want to wash your hair and condition it well afterwards. Always wash your hair after you color it, just like they do at the salons. It helps remove excess chemicals from your hair and scalp. If you can, wait a day before processing further to save your scalp from irritation.
Then apply the color. There are a lot of "High-Lift" super light blondes and whites to choose from at Beauty Supply stores. Get an "Extra" or "High" lift volume cream developer and the proper supplies, like a mixing bowl or bottle that has measurements lines on it, a brush to apply the color, gloves, and a shower cap and you will be ready!
As I said before the directions are always the suggested amount of time, but with extreme lightening you usually have to leave the color on for extended periods of time or until you get the desired color.
And the people that work at the Beauty Supply stores are full of information and usually very helpful, all you have to do is ask!
Hope this helps!

For God's sake DONT!!!!!!!!! But if you MUST, then go to a beauty supply store and look for bleaching kit. Or a highlighting kit from Wal-Mart. Prepare to do it a couple of times. My husband went from dark brown to platinum blonde years ago on a lark and it took me FOUR bleaching kits and there was lots of scabbing. One word of advice: don't stop when you see that it's orange. It has to go through that to get to blonde.

Don't. Corrective color costs a lot more than letting a professional do it right the first time.
