God has a set of natural laws.

One of them is that if you get a limb cut off, it's not going to grow back. It's as simple as that.

Foolish atheists use this as evidence to try to get people to think there is no God because if there was and you prayed with all of your heart, your arm would grow right back because the Bible promises miracles to people who pray and who truly believe.

This is just stupid. If anything, this proves there is a God.

God wants to test your faith.

Arguements like that come from Satan, who desperately wants you to burn in Hell FOREVER with him.

no..... its a miracle right god can do anything. *rolls eyes* usually the "miracle healings" are things that would have been cured anyways

Which Atheists exactly? Do you have a citation? I think this is another case of making up a question so you can give it an answer. Or is this something someone in bible study class brought up?
I have followed this issue since I was a child and have never heard an Atheist ask that question.
Although I would like to know how you arrived at a proof for God, by him NOT answering prayers.
Perhaps if you read another book besides the bible...

I disagree that that is a dumb question. I know christians who ask why doesn't God heal their loved one etc. We all know that God CAN heal an amputee and give him a new leg..God can do everything.....as for the why....i think the way you have explained yourself here is actually damaging christianity..it is not as cut and dried as that and we do NOT have all the answers.
God heals in His own way and in His own time..but He does heal..some just will not get that healing until heaven..and some people may not get healed immediately or even in this life because there may be something more important God has to help them with..like answering other prayers..etc.
It makes me so mad when so called christians try to pretend to non believers that we christians know all the answers about God and His ways when we do not...no wonder many non believers loathe to ask us anything because they fear the very answer you just gave...you call athiests foolish and call a valid question dumb..that is putting them down and how dare christians do that
People who do not know God even a little ask questions like that..they have not been properly ministered too if they have wanted it....and just because they asked that does not mean it came from satan..
I, as a christian, can ask the same question...since He IS real..and can do all things, why doesn't he stop my friend from dying..am I dumb? am i foolish? was that question from satan?
I often wonder why people want to belong to todays christianity which is so hateful in many cases..true christianity is what Jesus Himself taught.

God DEFIES the laws of nature by performing miracles, right? Then what's so absurd about asking for amputated limbs to regrow?

Are you saying that creating a meals for hundreds of people out of a few loafs of bread and a couple fish ISN'T defying the laws of nature?

I suspect you're going to say "ok, fine, that DOES defy the laws of nature". Good. Thank you for agreeing. Now... AGAIN... knowing that God performs miracles like that... what's so absurd about asking God to do the same for worthy amputees?

You are missing the point of the question...it's not just about amputees. The real question at the heart of it is "why won't god answer unambiguous prayers?"

I think it's sad that people believe that others will burn in hell simply for not believing in god....I know that belief tormented me as a Christan; I'm glad I saw the light, so to speak.

I am an atheist, and I can't say I've ever asked that question before. It is a dumb question. However, you seemed to already know the answer.

I certainly hope I won't "burn in Hell FOREVER" anytime soon. I guess we'll see.

oh this is interesting. would you care to share what comprises god's set of "natural laws"? to accept that an amputated arm will not grow back is to accept almost every component of organic chemistry. and you know what that means.

i want to burn forever with satan. oh but wait...the same natural law that dictates that an amputated arm cannot grow back also says that the body cannot burn forever... not even more than a day.

i love your mind.

Trying to convince an Atheist that their is a God is as ridiculous as trying to convince a child that their is a Santa, tooth fairy or Easter Bunny once their rational thought has evolved to the point of comprehension whereby they realise that the concept is impossible!

Oh well let me see, according to Matthew 17:20 "And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you."

No where in that scripture does it say "Except for amputees, no amount of faith will heal them." Nope it says "nothing shall be impossible unto you." So, if an amputee has enough faith and nothing is impossible, then why not? Growing back a limb is certainly easier than moving an entire mountain.

Ah, my friend. To begin with, using the word "dumb" in your question automatically puts non-believers on the defensive. It is an impolite and rude word, please do not use it.
Second, yes there are natural laws, but God is not subject to those laws, or else He could not have performed the miracles He did.

I honest don't know why God does not heal amputees. But I trust in His wisdom, and I know that all things work for good for those who love him. I know that this life is a test, and that by trial and fire as we are refined like silver, our trails make us better people.

It is kind of pointless and lame but just because someone survives cancer doesn't mean God has performed a miracle and broken a natural law. Doctors don't know everything. Heck they can't even figure out the common cold.
