Christians tend to use "evidence" or reasoning which is not actually evidence or a reason. It's quite lovely, don't you think? They can explain away anything, but it just never seems to make sense.

It's true, a lot of Christians use flawed logic to support their stances. This could stem from a lot of things, probably starting with a zealous preaching saying something like "Christians are a minority nowadays, and that is a product of Satan's persecution." and people slowly change the wording and meaning until you see what you have.
Statements like that are often used between the faithful to reaffirm faith and are best kept between believers than to actually try to prove that Satan is persecuting them.

I would offer a word of correction for your Christian friend. That is not proof that Satan is persecuting us. Because real believers are a minority in the world it is proof that the world is controlled by Satan. There is a difference.
Read the book of I John if you want the Christian perspective on the manner. God bless!

As Shakespeare wrote in "Julius Caesar", "The fault, dear Brutus, is in ourselves." No one likes contemplating the possibility that they may bear some responsibility for their own adversity. It's always comforting to believe it's someone else's fault.

Instead of trying to understand why something bad happened they just choose not to deal with it and say Satan is responsible
