Conceit is literally "favorable opinion; especially : excessive appreciation of one's own worth or virtue".
Feelings of grandeur are often complemented by paranoia.
How do we distinguish a sense of self-worth or pride from conceit, or an excess of it? A big sign would be feeling the need to put down other people in order to stay confident. Another clue might be feeling overly dependent on other's words of approval to maintain confidence or overly confident in spite of words of criticism against you.

Conceited is a nice way of saying "You're up yourself" - you think you're really cool and awesome and are too busy talking about yourself to notice what other people say.

you mean conceited?
If you only care about yourself, and your looks, and brag about how great you are at everything you do....that pretty much would make someone conceited.
