I had my wisdom teeth taken out a month ago, and I haven't had a chance to go to the dentist to get the stitches taken out yet (it's not the type that dissolves) because he is so far away.

I know, of course, it is not good to have it left there, but what type of health complications can it cause if I just leave them there? I'll go to have them taken out eventually, but I was wondering if there was any potential problems I needed to be aware of.

Also, any tips on how I can take them out myself? I caught one end of it with a tweezer but it hurt when I tugged at it a little bit..

Thank you!

I got mine taken out about a month ago as well. At the time the dentist told me to come back in a few days so he could take out the stitches taken out, but within those few days they all fell out. I was a bit freaked out, but it turns out that it's pretty normal.
So if you have the same type of stitches that I did, you're probably pulling on something else, because those stitches that don't dissolve will fall off on their own or they will loosen up quite easily.
Regarding potential problems, the only thing you should be worrying about is cleaning them very thoroughly. If not, they'll get infected. When I went to my dentist again to have them checked, he told me to always brush my teeth after eating, if you can't brush then at least gargle with warm water, making sure that you swish the water around the space where the wisdom teeth were. This is so that you won't have any fragments of leftover food in there.

have you thought of taking up smoking too...that should help speed along the complications!!

If this is for real (which I doubt) get yourself to a dentist or even ER as soon as possible. it hurt when you tugged it because they need to be cut, additionally, the skin has likely by now grown over them...good luck, twit

Taking out the sutures is part of the same surgical procedure. It is not an extra charge. See your dentist for it. If there is anything abnormal or more to do he will be able to take care of it.

so many infections plus the gum may start to grow around the stitches making it so much more painful when you get the stitches out. Go and get it removed today...

You are not for real. I cannot believe anyone would do what you did. I can't even tell you what to do. That's how disgusting you are.
