I'm having trouble finding the various uniforms that are used in the U.S. Navy. I'm joining the Navy in about a year, and I wanted to know how they looked.

Uniform shops are usually on bases where you can't go.

If you're really interested, go to a base and see if you can get a day pass. Tell them you're in the delayed entry program and you need a day pass for parking. Security standards change a lot. You might get in, you might need an escort.

When you join, you'll be fitted for every uniform during boot camp, and given a full sea bag.

One of the above posters are wrong, the NEX (Navy Exchange) is outside the actual gates to get onto a base. But, you'll need a military ID to purchase anything. Some NEX's even have people posted at the door to inspect ID's.

So, your best bet is to ask an enlisted friend or your recruiter.

Edit: I don't know why I got a thumbs down. I live in one of the largest military areas in this country here in VA, and the NEX's on Oceana and Norfolk are indeed outside of the gates. I do know what I'm talking about, do you?

Don't worry about it. The Navy will provide the current uniforms when you join up.

In the meantime, there are plenty of photos on websites of various uniforms. Or, just go in and ask a Navy recruiter !

don't worry abouit it. By the time you get in, the new uniforms will be issued and anything you find now will no longer be authorized.

and it's an easy google search..

it might be a waste of time.
a) if they want you to have it they'd issue it in your sea bag
b) the utilities they use now are being phased out and replaced with camis
