Really, the only way you can find out is to ask a follower or do some research. This isn't the way to find out, because people have some misconceptions about Islam because of the extremists and things like that. I suggest Wikipedia and reading books--or read the Qu'ran itself! There's definitely an English copy lying around someplace. All I know is that it's around 1400 years old, and is a peaceful religion that is greatly misunderstood.

I don't know much, only what my friend who has dated a few Muslim men tells me. I respect the religion as a whole, but as with any religion, it can be twisted to represent what the reader wants it to mean. I think there are alot of things that the Koran says that some followers have taken out of context and made non Islamic people confused about the true teachings.

I know that very few people know anything about true Islam. Even those who call themselves Muslims. That is why I study in detail, the commentary of the Qu'ran by the Classical Scholar Ibn Kathir.

It's funny people make all their lies about the Prophet and always forget to mention he used to stand for prayer until his feet blistered. sayings things such as

Praising God as a most loyal servant, and that he before receiving divine revelation, was of the noble character. Read some true unprejudiced history,

To those who know not, God is one and the Day is Judgment is true. Jesus Son of Mary will descend and preach Islam. I am innocent of the deeds that you do while you are innocent of the deeds that I do.

Peace Be With You

[016:093] And had God willed, He could have made you (all) one nation, but He sends astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. But you shall certainly be called to account for what you used to do.

Islam is a religion

Embracing Islam is the sole means to fulfilling the purpose of our existence, which in turns leads to the attainment of true inner peace and eternal salvation.

Islam gives our lives order, meaning, balance, purpose, and direction. We have hope founded on clear facts and dependable revelation from God

It is not religion. it is a cult preaching hate against humanity and all humane and scientific things. preach hatred, murder, enslaving women. when it is a minority, it cries out as victims of prejudice, shows it is "peaceful" in words only, while it gets together and build communities to undermine the society and grow up, when it gets bigger and powerful, it simply shows all the hatred and demands more and more and starts open terrorism. after they gain more power they demand Islamic state, at the beginning they tries to allow some religions to gain some power and hit the other religions and seculars and liberals (who defend them).. at the end when they make victory, they make absolute islamic religious state and they start open campaign on non-muslims peaceful or non-peaceful. they return slavery, sexism and establish all kind of cruel punishments, and ban all kind of entartainment and modern conveniences except weapons and for the Khalifa (king). this is Islam in sum.

I just breezed through the quran (57 pages) Here's a few quotes:
(by the way I'm Christian)
sura 2:190 You may fight in the cause of GOD against those who attack you, but do not aggress. GOD does not love the aggressors.
sura 2:191 You may kill those who wage war against you, and you may evict them whence they evicted you. Oppression is worse then murder. Do not fight them at the sacred Masjid, unless they attack you therin. If they attack you, you may kill them. (google "quran", or "islam" and you can download and copy it)
(don't know much about it...but their quran says it's O.K. to kill)
Seemed like a bunch of man-made laws and formulas after I read it. However, the Bible is quite the opposite... it speaks of love and forgiveness

nothing, and i dont care to. same with other religions, all they do is create all the things they are supposed to be against. the day i see the religious people of the world actually practicing what they preach, i might feel differently. all i see now is people starving to death when theres plenty of food, one thinking that they are right and everyone else is wrong, its the same thing over and over. go ahead and tell the world about your beliefs and tell them you are right while people are still starving. how can anyone take you people seriously?

Why Mohammed was not a prophet:

One who claims to be a messenger of God is expected to live a saintly life. He must not be given to lust, he must not be a sexual pervert, and he must not be a rapist, a highway robber, a war criminal, a mass murderer or an assassin. One who claims to be a messenger of God must have a superior character. He must stand above the vices of the people of his time. Yet Muhammad’s life is that of a gangster godfather. He raided merchant caravans, looted innocent people, massacred entire male populations and enslaved the women and children. He raped the women captured in war after killing their husbands and told his followers that it is okay to have sex with their captives and their “right hand possessions” (Quran 33:50) He assassinated those who criticized him and executed them when he came to power and became de facto despot of Arabia. Muhammad was bereft of human compassion. He was an obsessed man with his dreams of grandiosity and could not forgive those who stood in his way. Muhammad was a narcissist like Hitler, Saddam or Stalin. He was astute and knew how to manipulate people, but his emotional intelligence was less evolved than that of a 6-year-old child. He simply could not feel the pain of others. He brutally massacred thousands of innocent people and pillaged their wealth. His ambitions were big and as a narcissist he honestly believed he is entitled to do as he pleased and commit all sorts of crimes and his evil deeds are justified.
