Hey Jessie. I'm going to school for cosmetology so I can be of some assistance. You should relax your hair every 4 to 6 weeks. Just make sure that when you relax you are keeping the product on the new growth only. Do not bring the relaxer to the other relaxed hair, you can over process it and cause breakage and damage. Make sure you rinse well and use a neutralizing shampoo. One should come in the box if you buy a box relaxer. If you buy a tub from Sally's or some where else, make sure you get neutralizing shampoo too. This shampoo lets you know that you have removed all of the product from your hair. Make sure you condition after you shampoo your hair and deep condition every month or so. Hope this helps!! If you have any other questions let me know.

Most say to wait 4 to 6 weeks; however I find that waiting longer actually helps prevent breakage and damged hair. It's also easy to tell the difference between the actual new growth and the previous relaxed hair.

My hair I have faster new growth at the top of my head as to the back. So I try to wait at least 6 weeks possibly 8 weeks, despite how hard it is to manage my hair on top.

If you use a home kit relaxer try wait 4-6 weeks and only apply to the new growth. A lot of home kit relaxers do not come with a step that you apply a type of cream/oil to the previously relaxed hair so that in case you apply the relaxer to the previously relaxed hair you have less of a change of damage/breakage. I find that is a crucial step to relaxing hair. Since most do not offer that step then there is a high chance of breakage if you apply to previously relaxed hair.

Good Luck.

wait at least 6 weeks, but preferably 8 weeks that way there is more new growth to relax and you will have less chance of overlapping the chemicals on the hair that has already been relaxed.

Every 6 - 7 weeks... any more than that and you'll be sweeping your hair up off the floor and watching it go down the drain when you wash it.

4 weeks is much much much too soon.. I mean dang what kind of new growth do you have @ 4 weeks, you'll be putting the relaxer on already relaxed hair.. there's no new growth to even apply it to..

You can keep it blow dried/flat ironed and well conditioned inbetween relaxers.

depends on how quick your hair grows and the texture of your hair. if you can get away with washing and drying your hair and it just has a wave to it....do not relax frequentl. I say at most 4 times a year. But if your hair is really coarse and unruly then you may want to do it every 6 weeks because your hair will break off if there is such as demarcation from your natural and permed hair

You should break from using a relaxer after several applications. Having curly hair sometimes is just as nice as having straight hair.
