Since symptoms of narcissism include excessive need for admiration and preoccupation with daydreaming about extraordinary successes, does that mean that someone who daydreams a lot about impressing others is being narcissistic, even if they may not neccessarily have a full blown disorder.

Daydreaming is necessary. How the heck else do you cope with being in your own skull 24-7. And I think that it is OK to have narcissistic tendencies. It's called loving yourself and dreaming your potential. Daydreams can be motivational, too. So, yes, dreaming about impressing others is a bit narcissistic, but ain't no problem there.

Well if that's the case then everyone out there is narcissistic because we all daydream about being more successful in one way or another. I guess if this type of daydreaming or begins to take over your life then that might be a real problem but no, I don't think it means that that individual is necessarily being narcissistic, because self-respect, self-worth...all that jazz is necessary.

I believe you get to do whatever you want when you daydream and you shouldn't worry about it even if it is a bit narcissistic.

Not at all! Daydreaming, as long as it doesn't interfere with work or driving, is actually very healthy and reveals a lot about what's important to you/ what you'd like to improve. Don't stop!

Not at all; if it is within limit. And what's the limit - again a matter of controversy; or more a matter of choice. Day dreaming takes away your fatigue, rejuvinates, envigours and boosts morals. its quite normal , no harm.

Narcissism is when you look in the mirror and become obsessed
with silky hair, washboard stomach, etc.
People who get artificial tans, teeth whitened beyond normalcy can be considered somewhat steeped in narcissism.

nope, I dint think daydreaming is narcissistic at all.....but If you ever start only caring about yourself, and only talking about yourself, then id be worried.
