I would like to enter my earnings info and a few other things into a website that just estimates how much I might get back, what is a good place online to do that for free?
I don't want to file or anything, just curious about my return.

Go the website I'm linking to below. It's a tax estimator that takes maybe 5 minutes of work. Click on each of the buttons to see what fields you may have to fill in.

1. there really is no web site that you can go to to find out what your going to get back for nothing without paying for filing or filing for free online at the IRS .gov
2. you are Single according to all specifications due to the fact that you are not legally married.
3 did your girlfriend work and recieved a W-2 (if she did you can not file or carry her on your return,
4.if she did not work you can carry her as a othert only
5 the child will be as son or daughter
6.you can claim head of household since your child and girlfriend are living with you and you support them more than 50%
its easy

take a peice of paper Example
enter the total of box 1 on your W-2 20000
enter the standard deduction for
head of household -7550
Total 12450
multiply 3300 x 3 -9900
taxable income 2550
Tax owed 10% 255.00

Child tax Credit -225.00

Tax owed 0

taxes paid in from box 2 on W-2 whatever paid in

earned Income Credit from IRS pub 596 enter at amount of gross income $
1915
then enter difference of child tax credit of $1000 of the 225 would be put here
add the amount paid in in Box 2 , from the W-2 then the earned income credit oand the difference in the child tax credit and
and you come up with your approximate refund.

h&r block has taxcut, which will do your federal taxes for free, just don't hit submit at the end if you don't want to actually file.

if your girlfriend works she is claiming the child and will get money back. unless you are the only one working you can't claim the child.
