but then get upset if somebody quotes the OT?

Sounds like you're trying to have it both ways.

That's like asking "why do some christians have gay sex with men?" There's no explaining what they do, they're all action and no thought.

For the same reason self proclaimed atheists ridicule Christians (is it only Christians you don't like or is it all believers in a God?); you just want to push someones buttons.

Can your science show proof that no God exists any more than organized religions can show that God does exist? I think not. You are both just two sides of the same coin.

Religious people's assertion that god created everything and all that psychobabble has numerous holes in it so they generally get extremely defensive whenever science points out the flaws in their faith.

Although you'll see them rush to say "See see?" when a religious person who happens to be an archaeologist(sp?) unearths a discovery that they theorize is somewhere in the bible. So yes, you're right, it's basically just hypocrisy on a grand scale.

Exactly. If something isn't able to change its 'mind' to fit new evidence, then trusting it is nothing but blind faith.
And the bible is based on science anyway. Of course the science it's based on is thousands of years out of date.

Because science shouldn't have a "mind" per se.... Science should simply be concerned about the facts, and if it "makes up its mind" then the facts should be very clearly and obvious. If they can't state that they know something with absolute truth, then they should just say it is a hypothesis.

I don't know any Christians who ridicule science for "changing its mind." Maybe they ridicule people who use science for epistemic certainty, like old fashion Positivists. It is quaint, like wearing a pocket watch.

To the former: when someone is stupid enough to believe they have "discovered it all"; they'll ridicule a study pointing out that gravity induces a 9.8/m/s^2 toward the earth.

No, it's because god can contradict himself, because he's, you know... GOD. Even if it sounds crazy, he's right about everything. Who do scientists think they are trying to do the same??

Ignorance perhaps? Fortunately, it doesn't apply to all Christians - most of them have become mindlessly apathetic toward reason.
