Ok, I have a boil...I just kinda popped it...can they be spread by just touching my skin? Or do they only spread under the skin by themselves? Cuz I really don't want another one!

Boils can be treated by applying a home made cloth bandage dipped in warm salt water to the affected area. This will help the boil burst and drain more quickly. Wash the boil a few times a day and apply an antibiotic. Do not squeeze the boil and wash hands after treating the boil to prevent further infection.More info can be found at http://ailments.in/boil.html

Yes they can spread by popping them. This causes the staph bacteria to fly who knows where. You should never pop a boil. Since it is open now you need to put a bandaid or bandage on it to contain the drainage and prevent the bacteria from spreading more.

Never touch a boil. Expecially pop it. It can spread through out your whole body. It gets bigger and bigger everytime you touch it. I would no because im 26 and work at a cosmetoligy place. If you want you can always come by and we can see it. Only if it gets big and your worried. It can also cause cancer. So remember. Never pop your boil.! Or mole or anything other then a pimple.!

they are spread by the bacteria in the fluid of the boil..
it popped, be very carefull that it does not get very infected now..bad infection is common in boils that are opened..
it needs to be cleaned very well now and apply a good ointment, such as maximum strength neosporin and keep it covered..

Boils should be opened and drained by a doctor in a clean environment, if at all possible...

I have seen many people suffer from boils that are opened and infected with staph..
