You are doing fine. Now, there is a huge difference between jogging and walking fast.
when you are running slowly with your heels up-thats jogging. but heels down-thats fast walking.
for running, the best combination is to start with a fast walking, this warms you up. after 15min you can jog. before stopping finally, slow down grdually and walk fast for the last 10 min.
as you aren't jogging all the time, you'll have stamina to follow this for a 50 min session.
REMMEMBER, grdually increasing pace and gradually slowing down is the trick. dont take a break between. it is NOT GOOD.
however, if you are below 35, instrumental exercise can be a better idea. it'll help to burn your fat more rapidly.

If your knees are troubling you, then I would try some other form of cardio along with weight training, like the stationary bike or try a spin class. Cardio alone isn't going to burn fat which is often the common misconception. Cardio burns calories. You're going to need to build muscle to help burn fat. Weight training doing multiple reps with machines or free weights, not power lifting, are what you should incorporate into your workout routine. You'll get results faster and not only slim down, but tone your muscles as well, which will also help you look thinner. If you strengthen your leg muscles, particularly those that support the knees, you may also alleviate some of the stress on them, allowing you to run and jog with no pain. Good luck! I hope you reach your goal!

Jogging and running are good for burning calories in general, but to lose fat you must burn more calories than you take in. Weight training can actually burn more calories over the long term by building more muscle which in turn burns more calories. If you jog for 30 minutes everyday you might want to think about taking every other day to do some weight training.

running isnt the only way to lose weight with exercise. what it comes down to is how many calories you comsume each day compared to how many calories you expend in that day. if you burn off more than what you consume, eventually you will lose weight. keep in mind that we burn more than 1000 calories per day just by doing nothing.
it turns out walking is generally as effective as running is, and it is also easier on the knees.
i think 4-5 days a week is a good amount. 30-45 minutes per session is just fine.
try adding in some weight training 3 times a week as well if youre upto it.
hope i helped.
