This is just a hypothetical question, so don't get all panicky. I'm just wondering. I know that a lot of weight lost would be water weight, but I'm sure I would lose SOME fat pounds too. I need to know how many pounds combined I would lose.

Also, when does the body start taking muscle for protein? I know that the body first gets energy from stored glucose, then fat, then muscle...

I'm a science major, so I don't want any ignorant people saying that the body "eats" the muscle right away, because I know that's not true. And if you're going to answer, can you PLEASE spell "weight" and "lose" correctly!

If you had 30 people doing this, they'd all have different weight losses with some losing nothing at all. You might not lose any fat in one week. You're more likely to gain weight. And you couldn't avoid drinking water unless you wished to die. I believe that at 2-3 weeks without food, muscle is catabolized. There's no hard and fast time frame because the initial body fat a person has determines this.

If you're a science major, wouldn't you know how to estimate your body composition loss after 7 days of fasting. This would of course depend on your current body composition, including yes your production of glucose, fat, and lean muscle structre.

To answer your question, I'll give you a hypothical situation from which to stem your research.

Weight: 140
Height: 5'5"
Age: 20
Sex: Female

Basal Metabolic Rate: 1475.5 kcal per day at rest

BRM x 1.25 (low intensity only exercise daily) = 1844.375 per day x 7 days = 12,910.625 kcal per week.

3,500 kcal in a lb of fat. So... 3.688875lbs of fat in the first week alone.

This is not perfect and not every body's metabolism works in this exact way.

i haven't eaten for a few days before and i've lost like 5-8 pounds but drink lots of water and that's a good way to lose weight too. and i'm sure after all the fat is gone then it will start eating muscle so it just depends on how much fat you have
