mashed potatoes are a million times better!!
stop top is gross!

I would say mashed potatoes. I like Stove Top stuffing but I love mashed potatoes.

Mashed potatoes, made from real potatoes are much better. You can make them lots of different ways. You can make them smooth with a lot of butter and cream, or "smashed" style with hunks intact. You can leave the peels on red bliss or you can put them through a ricer to make them very smooth. You can add garlic, or wasabi, or crumbled bacon
Stovetop Stuffing is OK, but it's limited. Great on Thanksgiving, not as great the other 364 days a year.

If both are out of a box -- I prefer the stove top. But it's hard to beat mashed potatoes if cooked with fresh potatoes.

In my opinion they go side by side....but if I had to chose I'd have to select "mashed potatoes" they ROCK! Nothing like eating them with lots of butter melting all over them and just a hint of black pepper and salted enough. Now I could devour some..thanks for the question! ps...REAL MASHED NOT INSTANT
