Congrats on feeding your dog a healthy diet! As an animal care professional, it drives me nuts when clients tell me, "OH, I only feed him dog food--never table food!" I tell them, "How would you like to only eat Cherrios for the rest of your life?" I really believe a varied and natural diet is SOOO important for healthy dogs. I tell clients to feed no more than 50% dog food and get as many fruits and vegetables down their little throats that you can. I see this sort of diet work wonders--from temperament issues to dermatological skin issues.

As for your question, in my experience, many dogs will forgo the dog food, waiting for table food--particularly if you feed dry kibble. The secret is to make them learn that when you put down dry food, there will be no table food for many hours. And stick to this doctrine.

One the other hand, I think a plate of broccoli and lean chicken and some rice is a MUCH better diet than most canned and some of the kibble out there--and if they want to forgo food until you offer the better and fresher food, so be it...

Don't worry about starving. Most of us feed our dogs way too much. Some of the longest lived dogs I have seen where working dogs that were feed one meager meal a day, and never anything on Sundays.

I occasionally give my dogs choice pieces of table scraps like bits of meat. Some human foods are bad for dogs but in general table scraps won't hurt a dog if given occasionally. If you do it all the time then the dog may lose interest in their own food or not eat enough of it and then will miss out on nutrients the dog needs. For that reason I'd advise limiting table scraps to nearly nothing.
Tonight I cooked a rare steak and gave each of my dogs three or four cubes each of it. Of course they loved it and since it's a rare thing that they eat any scraps it's absolutely safe and it doesn't interfere with their appetite for dog food. Had I smothered that steak in onions that would have been bad for the dog because onions are toxic to dogs.

It's never a good idea to feed your dog only people food. There are alot of human foods that are deadly to dogs, including onions. I hope you are familiar with the list of poisonous foods. If you stop giving him people food, he will probably mope around and not eat for a few days, but as soon as he gets hungry enough he will eat his dog food. You will pobably get upset that he's not eating and break down and give him something that you shouldn't but then you'll have to start the whole process over again. If you love your doggie, try a dog food like "Sensible Choice" made by Royal Canin. You can get this at Petco or Pet Supplies Plus. Honestly, I had a dog who died at 11 of heart failure because she was overweight and I have learned from that. My dogs now eat dog food with an occasional "safe" human food treat. Trust me, your dog will be healthier and will be with you for a longer amount of time.

It will make him more prone to only wanting table scraps and more unaccepting of dog food. You need to be very careful what you feed your dog, some human foods are not animals because they can't tolerate them. Small dogs are more prone to intolerance than larger ones. I would just stick with dog food and may a scrap once in awhile of meat as a treat.

She does not consume her canines foodstuff via fact she is attentive to you will provide in and supply her what she needs. She has you knowledgeable rather nicely! provide up feeding her people foodstuff, she would be able to no longer die from no longer eating for an afternoon or 2, and while she's hungry she'll consume her canines foodstuff. you ought to to attempt coaxing her to consume her canines foodstuff by skill of combining some moist canines foodstuff into the kibble. There are some super dogfoods obtainable and that they are alot greater advantageous for canines than maximum individuals foodstuff. maximum of what we consume has too lots salt and sugar than what's wholesome for canines (or us for that be counted). There are cookbooks and recipes for residing house made canines meals and extremely some people have their canines on "uncooked foodstuff" diets (uncooked meat, bones, greens...only like what canines in the wild might consume) if she only won't consume usual dogfood and you experience greater advantageous giving her a house cooked meal. yet frequently, KFC and leftover chinese language foodstuff is fairly undesirable for canines no be counted how lots they like it. (you additionally can want to attempt a distinctive variety of dogfood...perhaps she only rather does not like the form you're giving her)

no, he'll eat dog food before he starves but be careful, not all table foods are healthy. Did you know onions are more lethal than chocolate, although they love both.
