No, rabies is a fatal disease.

Dogs' saliva often gets bubbly when excited or active. It's not a disease.

birds very rarely get rabies and since your dog has had his shots all is good and fine. as far as the foaming at the mouth this will happen sometimes when the dog comes in contact with certain toads or frogs. they put off a secretion that causes dogs to froth at the mouth. not sure what he could have gotten into but if you take a garden hose and flush out his mouth the foaming will probably stop. keep an eye on him though and if he should begin to exhibit any strange or odd behavior, call your vet and take him to an emergency clinic as soon as possible.

I would say no your dog does not have rabies. You have a dog that is from the hound breeds. Most your hound breeds generally have a tendancy to drool or get foamy at the mouth when excited and moving around quite a bit. I have coonhounds and they do the same thing all the time, but mine are just puppies. I don't think you have anything to worry about, but if you are really concerned about it call your local vet and ask their advice.

No. Hounds are prone to frothy saliva when they get excited or scared, it's normal. I wondered this very thing about my new adoptee (though there hasn't been a case of rabies where I live in over 20 years but you never know) and my vet told me it's the Saint Bernard in him. And sure enough, he only does it when scared or really excited. I'd talk to your vet though if it's something new. Signs of rabies are a lot more than frothy mouth. It is also aggression comes out and that's usually the first sign.

One of mine does that when she goes to the dog park. She gets real excited because of all the sounds (the park is by a highway) and she has a fear of trucks. She used to do it (foam at the mouth) really bad but with continued exposure to what used to scare her really bad, she does it less and less. She loves going to the park now, but when lots of dogs are there she'll still get a bit foamy because she gets so excited.

No, this does not mean this at all. Some breeds of dogs get overheated and this is the way that they sweat. Basset's are one of these breeds.

However, please make sure that your dog gets her rabies vaccinations when she needs them as rabies is a fatal condition.

no, some dogs just do that. I had a Bull Mastiff and she was almost always foaming. But, it is a good idea to have your dog vaccinated so she doesn't get rabies.

no, your dog doesn't have rabies. He is just excited. That is what dogs do. If you are still woried call the vet and ask, but as long has he has his shots he is ok.

heavens no. any dog that has the droopier jowles (breed not individual.....basset) can display this trait. Actually any dog could. Don't worry. if your pet has it's shots and only does this while excited or exersizing you are fine.

My dogs drool and their mouths get all "foamy" all the time when running, rough housing. Basset hounds, like most hounds, drool.
