im moving into a new house, and im not sure what i want my bedroom to look like..theres trim near the celing that's white (same as near the floorboards) i want to keep thoes both white. i just want to change the color of the celing and the walls to something that's not white, i would like some clolor added to my room. Or if you have a good theme that would be helpful as well. I just ask for a non-beach theme, or goth. i dont put posters on my walls either, so i want something elegant, peaceful, calming, and unique...any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

My suggestion would be to find a bedding set, duvet or comforter that you love and go with one of the colors in the set. If you paint the room first, you might not be able to find bedding that matches!
If you paint the ceiling something other than white don't use anything too bright, I think it's better to use a lighter color than the walls although I did see a home once on TV that had very high celings and they painted them black and that looked kind of cool. I think it all depends on how big the room is.
If you are looking for peaceful bedroom themes, then why not go with a Zen themed bedroom with subtle colors and simple accessories. Maybe a Shoji screen room divider and a water fountain in the room? Don't forget lots of plants.

Color choice is difficult `you need to spend some time in front of paint chip samplers. Color will make the world of difference, most paint stores have samples that show you 3-4 different colors and shades that compliment/coordinate with each other. This way you don't have to be able to see what looks good together the "matching" is already done for you.
These paint chips show colors for your wall, ceilings, trim and curtains, bedding and such so your room will have just enough of each color to look balance and in harmony.
You can paint the ceiling a lighter complimentary shade of the walls this ads a wonderful effect to the room.
Of course all of this depends on what your furniture and accessories are and how it will all fit with the colors you choose.

for something elegant, peaceful, calming, and unique; try going for a "plantation" theme. keep the white trim and paint the walls a rich, earthy tan color (for reference, see the color by BEHR called: "peanut butter") . paint the ceiling a few shades lighter; a color that is midway between the white trim and the tan walls. White plantation shutters (floor to ceiling if possible) would look simple but very elegant as window treatments and closet doors. the natural green of living plants is a terrific compliment to the tan color of the walls. a couple of large, floor standing potted palms in big terra cotta pots would some natural and earthy color into the space. A four-poster bed in mahoganey color is another great contrast. Rattan furniture in a dark brown stain would look great and can be very comfortable with thick cushions on seats and backs. dark, deep, rich brick red cushions and accessories in combination with the tan walls, white trim and shutters, green plants, and mahoganey rattan is a winning color palette.
To get an idea what this color palette would look like, go to Home Depot and get these color chips:
Behr--"peanut butter" (walls); "sly fox" (cushions and accents); white (trim and shutters); and the Ralph Lauren color--"library mahoganey" (furniture).
hold them together and imagine them with the natural green of palms and it will give you an overall sense of the scheme.
PS: these colors as seen online appear much darker than they actually are; best to get the chips.
A large bamaboo slat area mat would be perfect for the floor, unless you already have hardwood--in which case i would use a beige area rug that also contains some of the other colors of the room palette.
this is a simple but sophisticated and calming color palette that would turn your space into a relaxing and elegant sanctuary.

As far as I had heard, you don't really want to put red in a bedroom, because even though red is a beautiful color, it will inadvertently put you in a bad mood.
I don't know how true that is, but I won't take any chances with it...
I have a really pretty beige/orange color in my living room and I LOVE it.
It goes with so much of my decor. In the daylight it's still light and airy and in the evening it's warm and cozy. I think that may be something you should look for in a color.
Good Luck and Have Fun with it!!

The best way to do it and still have a bare wall is tape white paper covering where you are going to paint.paint what you want OR tape clear plastic sheet.then paint the words in different colors. now you have 2 one for 2 walls but different colors. when it.s time to change it will be easy and a lot of fun.
