Can I joing the air force, my BAC was .12 and considered HIGH BAC, but not HIGHEST BAC and not GENERAL IMPAIRMENT, which is .08 in Pennsylvania.

By the way, it was not accident related. So it will only be a misdemeanor and not a felony.

Category 2 Moral Offenses. This list of offenses is a guide. Consider violations of a similar nature or seriousness as a category 2 offense. In doubtful cases, treat the offense as a category 2 offense when the maximum possible confinement under local law exceeds one year. Conviction or adverse adjudication of one or more of these offenses is disqualifying for entry into the Air Force. First offenses may be waived for entrance by ANG/A1POP. However, disapproval may be at any level between the unit commander and ESSO.

These are from a National Guard site but the enlistment requirements are the same for guard or active.

You picked a tough branch of service to enlist into with a criminal record. The Air Force is pretty picky to start with.

The BAC count is probably not going to make much of a difference with the Air Force. The fact that you've got a misdemeanor record is what they're going to be concerned with. There is a possibility that they might discuss a waiver for that, but you would have to talk with your Air Force recruiter. Some of the other branches of service are more lenient, but the Air Force and Navy are pretty selective about who they allow to enlist.

Good luck.

I'm going about this in a different direction. Do you abuse booze?
Are you using any type of drugs? If the answer to any of these are yes, Then no branch will except you.

If this was a one time mistake them maybe. They will look into your background talk to mom, dad, friends and see what your history really is.
If that check out then okay the give you a waiver, but you probably wont get to select the job you want or they give you just a few to choose. Then you will probably be on a delayed entry program which you can be expect to pass random testing if you flunk them you are out.
If you get in and get kick out with anything less than Honorable discharge it will haunt you for the rest of you life.

it's possible. I know the Army would take you; they'd work on getting you a waiver. Then again, the Army is trying to fill its ranks like crazy. The Air Force might, depending on its personnel needs. The Air Force is known to be very picky, though, both with enlisting and becoming an officer.

No, I don't think the Air Force will take you even though it may be a misdemeanor. Getting a DUI while on active duty will get you discharged under other than honorable conditions.

Your DUI should not hurt your military enlistment and your attitude is terrific. I am a Vietnam Vet and your choice and direction is admirable. Good luck in the Air Force. It is an honor and privilege to serve your country.

you do no longer "connect" the Air stress Academy, you're chosen. ensure your grades are As and Bs. get entangled in college events. Play activities and run until eventually you drop. The Air stress Academy is a clever selection yet you ought to coach early. See your college counseller for info.

The Armed Forces aren't for criminals. You think they want you driving DUI on the military base endangering their famalies?

Get off the sauce and call a cab next time!

Almost certainly. Obviously, you need to clean up your act. But go talk frankly to the recruiters and see what they say. Just remember that verbal promises are worth the paper that they are written on.
