Some people will claim that they are "Christians" and yet also claim that Jesus isn't the only way to Heaven. Personally, I don't think these people are Christians, but that is what they call themselves.

I don't think Unitarians or Quakers believe that. They are both sects of Christianity. A friend's father is a Baptist Minister....he is very religious....and when I asked if he thought I was going to hell (I'm an agnostic Jew), he replied I don't think God is as judgemental as people are. He obviously learned this belief from his father....so I know at least one extremely religious christian that isn't a fundamentalist.
My freshman year of college....before I really knew anyone....I and my girl friend at the time (a catholic) were invited to see a play with some people from the campus radio station we were involved with. We of course said we'd love to...they were evasive about the title and plot of the play...but I didn;t pick up on it until afterwards. We ended up at a church...I am unsure of the denomination...and watched something called Heaven's Gates, Hell's flames. It proceeded to explain to me that I was going to burn in hell. It also explained that catholics were going to burn in hell. There was a scene where a woman's baby had died, and went to hell because her mother did not baptize it immediately. At one point everyone was asked to turn to their left and ask the person if they were a Christian.
I was so furious....and so aggravated...I didn't know how to respond. If I had not been there with a girl, i can assure you that I would have resorted to violence directed at the person proffering the invitation. So there are certainly a large number of the convert em' all jack **** Christians as well. All religions have extremists, and all of them are equally annoying.

There are many christians that have managed to alter this doctrine somehow. There are many that believed Jesus died for their sins and saved them from hell but they dont make a big deal out of it. There are others that are more fundamental agnostic christians. And some that seem to approach it as though God came to earth, died and rose again just so they would have something nice to think about when times are hard. And believe it or not, there are christians that think Jesus came to teach democracy. lol

Fundamentalism in regard to religion is about an attitude of strict adherence to doctrine, and in the case of Christianity, that the Bible is the literal, infallible word of God and is not open to interpretation.
So, not all Christians are fundamentalists, as some do believe the Bible is open to interpretation.

We as Christians are not saying we have the only way. Our God has told us He is the only and from meeting Him, we agree. The Lord Jesus said Himself, He is the way, the truth, and the life and no man comes to the Father except by me.

Well I believe that people that live a good life and respect others can make it to heaven. The truth will be revealed to them when the time comes and they will be given a chance to accept it and go to heaven or deny it.

That's not really what a fundamentalist is, I know a few sophisticated ones who understand and accept evolution and regard most of the OT as allegory. Problem is they don't seem to understand the dilemma of picking and choosing what to believe out of the whole bible.
Any religious person believes theirs is the one true faith. That kind of closed mindedness is built in to religion but as long as they don't push it on other people I don't really have a problem with it.

His way is how I will get to heaven, but I would never force my religion on anyone else. To each their own and what they believe.
