Cheeck the cable that wins from the shifter to the break peddle. This cable is why you have to push in on the break to get it into gear. the cable slides inside an outter shield. If it is in need of lub, it will not move untill the greese heats up eneff so the cable will slide inside the core.
Had this in a nissan not long ago

First thing you need to do is get a transmission fluid flush. Automatic transmissions are finicky when this procedure is not done (especially Maximas). Next, when you park, always use your parking brake to relieve pressure from the transmission.

Try pushing on the brake pedal really hard while shifting. There is an interlock that requires the brake pedal be pushed in before sifting and it may be worn or out of adjustment.

im not a car expert but it could be your transmission. If it were a manual transmission it coulda been your shifting fork or clutch. but no, to me it sounds like a transmission problem. Dont freak though im not an expert on cars ive just had a lot of clunkers break dwon over the years.
