All stereo and dvd equipment i have from the "90's" plays at louder volume levels then anything like 2002 till present. This is most easily recognized when plugging in any type of headphone.

No there isn't. However, more power (volume) requires better speakers and a more powerful power supply. Today, it is all about lowering the cost. So, low-cost speakers and smaller power supplies automatically restrict your volume.

well, there is a feature on some things which restricts volume level from being turned up to a certain point but its really easy to turn it off again.... this feature is based of studies showing that a certain amount of decibles are acceptible to the human ear... but most people ignore this and turn up the music which happens to kill your ears
