NO.Iran as a country that signed the NNPT has every right to a nuclear program,as long as it is in civilian purposes. And since there is not prove to show the contrary, they are not doing anything illegal. So there is absolutely no reason to attack Iran, unless someone wants really bad to start another world war...
We should stop trying to find imaginary reasons to attack Iran and focus on the real problems that are going on right now in the world...And since you're talking about nuclear activity, what about North Korea? We know that they have nuclear weapons? Why isn't US concerned about this?

I highly doubt Iran is going to get nuked. Most modern civilzed nations wouldn't use nuclear bombs nowadays (not even as a last resort) because of the ramifications as others have stated. The US has several battle carrier groups in the Persian Gulf. The president already selected an Admiral who is a Navy Aviator as commander of Central Command instead of an Army or Marine Corps Infantry General which says a lot. Israel also has one of the best and combat experienced air force in the world. If Persia doesn't give up its nuclear ambitions, it's going to look like a parking lot and the US doesn't even need to use a nuclear weapon or send ground troops there. Each of those Carrier Battle Groups have enough fire power. However, their little Persian president said he will not strike first. He’s trying to bait Israel (through the holocaust denial bit) to have them strike first so Persia can get more sympathies and support from other Muslims in other countries.

Depending on the kiloton yield, the outcry would be numbing. 500 kiloton strategic nukes would have global suicide implications, while tactical nukes will have regional implications.

Strategic nukes, at least a dozen of them in the 500 kiloton range would take out the middle east and vaporize around 190 million (3% of the world). Another 200 million in nearby countries would die from radioactive poisoning, and their only crime would be living next door to the Middle East.

Carl Sagan estimated a very low threshold for nuclear winter, a 100 megaton blast would ignite fires that would cause a nuclear winter....ie, the sun would be blotted out due to the dust and ash from the fires and all plant life would cease to exist....followed shortly thereafter by animal life.

So the option of eliminating the middle east by nukes is global suicide....which is why nukes have been a deterrent to total war for the past 60 years

Absolutely not. They are very clever, and have actually set a trap for us- their "nuclear sites" are just giant trampolines that would gently catch any nukes we would drop on them. Then, they would have OUR OWN nukes, and could turn around and use them on us!

Why would we do that? That would only cause more trouble out on operations for our forces and i am sure that is the last thing anyone wants?
Lets just try stop Iran influencing the terrorists and do the job at hand first

Iran has proclaimed that it wishes to destroy Israel. Nuclear weapons would give them the opportunity to do so, heaven forfend.

Iran is the biggest threat to the West today, and their military capability must be curbed by the West.

If other measures fail, then tactical nuclear weapons may be the only answer.

Absolutely! But they're just getting started with their underground facilities next month. We should let them get a good ways into the program, and then nuke them. Not ICBM's, but small nuclear bunker buster type bombs. We need to do it before Israel does it for us. But patience maximizes the target of opportunity!

No we shouldn't. Nukes aren't something to brashly throw around and use indiscriminately. If we did that in ever war we fought, we would have a coalition military attacking us. It's a scary thought, but that is still a possibility in today's world thanks to Bush.

As crazy as that sounds its about what it all comes down to isnt it ? I think these matters shouldnt even make it to the frontpage of the newspaper. When they do i'd say our undercover spys and operatives arent doing a very good job.

It looks pretty damn imminent from my point of view, Iran is not giving anyone much choice, if they keep screwing with the UN inspectors there to do their job, it may really happen real soon!
