If God's will does not bend to prayerful requests, then we have no influence over him. Why then would anyone ask God for anything?

God's like Congress: He pretty much ignores your letters, but still wants your vote.

Oh, except, Congress exists. And they send you back letters saying that "issues are important". Thanks, Congressman. Thanks.

becuase... authentic prayer takes faith. People who pray believe that there is someone (God) who is listening to their prayer. They beleive that God exists and hears. Prayer is not only asking, it is COMMUNICATING with God. It is powerful becuase prayer in Faith is the ONLY currency that we can offer that moves God to act. God always honors FAITH. And praying to Him is one external sign of that faith.

Who says we cannot "influence" God? God has sometimes changed His modus operandi on the prayer of a righteous man (read the life of Abraham). I have had many answered prayers (by that I mean "yes" answers), some may even be called "miraculous." And I know of many people too who have had answered prayers. Now you want to tell me it is a waste of time? Wouldn't - couldn't live a day without praying (talking and touching base with my God).

I pray that there will come a time that you do pray to God in FAITH and that God will shock you with an immediate answer. Then you'll understand where a "poor silly idiot naive" Christian like myself is coming from.

Your question is wrong, God answers all our prayers without being influenced by anything.
God wants us to pray and ask all our needs from him, the more you go towards him the closer he (Almighty) gets to you.
And if your talking about fate and the future, God dose changes events in respond to your prayer, but within his own will.

I try to never ask God for anything, only love Him. God is conquered by nothing except the unconditional love of his devotees. Love fosters faith, and if I have asked for anything, usually it has been granted.

As if theists put any thought in to their religion!

Oh well, nice question. I'd be interested to see if anyone really tried to justify it.

What's really twisted is the fact that you'd need to pray - its like your sister is dying of cancer but god cant help because he knows - he's saying, go on, BEG me to help her, then you do and she dies and theists say god moves in mysterious ways.

None of the god hypothesis makes sense - why do so many people choose to believe in it?

Thanks Zachariah - "GOD loves it when we worship him" - and that's from a theist!! See? What a disgusting egocentric, insecure praise craving creep their god is.

I answered your previous question. God has a plan for your life, he knows what you will ask and so he planned out a path for you. However, we may not choose to take that path. But God's decision still is there.
