Larry's greatest all time jab versus Marciano's worst all time skin? The ring would look like an ax murder scene, folks. Marciano did what it took to be undefeated, but Holmes would have made Rocky look like a club fighter. It's a crying shame that Larry Holmes never got the respect he deserved. Ali fired him as his chief sparring partner for a reason. Larry was beginning to tear him up. Today's fighters can barely last 12 rounds, and Holmes could go a strong 15.
Holmes TKO in 6 or less.

Interesting question, I think Larry Holmes would jab his way through the first 9 rounds and put them in the books as he slides to his left. Other than the occasional left hook when Rocky traps Larry, Rocky would miss about 80% of his punches. As the latter rounds begin, Larry would not be moving around and he would get hit more with the left hook and right cross. If it were a 12 round fight, Larry would win a painful decision. If it were a 15 round fight, Rocky would win by a KO/stoppage in the 14/15 round due to a referee stoppage.

Holmes doesn't get talked about much. He didn't have the oppurtunity to be the greatest like ali was, but I think it's possible that he was the most unbeatable boxer ever. He didn't lose until he was in his late thirties. At about 35 years old he was someting like 48-0. Marciano retired around 31 years old with i think 42 wins. So who's record is better? Everybody knows boxers lose some of their skill beginning in their thirties. Thats why Marciano retired.
Old or in their primes Holmes wins.

I think Holmes was a great fighter probably had a top three ranking in the jab department of heavyweights all time. Holmes would get knocked out in this fight. Round 9. Marciano would be battered from the jabs but Holmes would get hit with shots he never felt before in any fight.

now this may cause another outrage among you purists but i honestly think marciano takes this one by late round knockout - stay w/me just a bit before the bile levels rise. in a fight i personally believe would somewhat recall the first creed-balboa fight(w/o the cartoonish beatings), holmes would pepper marciano w/everything in his arsenal, and, yes, there would be chunks of the the rock strewn all over the ring. if richard steele were the ref, holmes would win easy. however, if a patient ref were officiating, rock would close the gap and cut off the ring, and eat holmes up from the inside, w/a savage body attack, before going upstairs and shattering that coke-bottle glass jaw holmes had. i know holmes had probably the best jab of any heavyweight, and learned more from ali than any other fighter, and was quite a tremendous fighter - on paper, rightfully, he should win this fight, hands down. however, i don't think he would be be able to handle the one thing rock had that no one could ever take away from him..his heart. that man had the guts to keep moving forward, despite whatever beating he was taking - and he took some beatings - and eventualy walk right thru holmes jabs and crosses and nail him right where it counts! holmes eventually liked to mix it up w/fighters and sometimes got the worst of it. had he tried that w/rock, which he most certainly would have given his one time animosity towards him, rocky would've seized that moment to separate holmes from his senses..the rock could be lethal w/one well timed punch! rocky by kayo inside of 12 rounds!

When Larry Holmes said that Marciano wasn't good enough to hang up his jockstrap, he was right, he just shouldn't have said it.
Marciano was not only too small, but not even in the same league as Holmes.

No offense to Holmes, but Marciano was the most dominant boxer of all time. It wouldn't even be close. I predict a 5th round KO.
