I was not aware that fluorescent lights contain hazardous material. My suggestion is for communities to set aside a day every month when hazardous household products can be picked up and disposed of properly.

Eventually, they will end up in a land fill. We haven't become smart enough to figure out how to economically recycle everything. So for the time being, put it in a heavy trash bag and break it so that someone won't accidentally break it and get hurt.

In my state, we are to take them to the Hazo House. They are a hazardous material.
