What is the general purpose of the encyclical letter?(veratatis splendor)?

veratatis splendor is written by late Pope John Paul II. pls help me.Thanks

The purpose of it is to provide learned information on the scriptures. There is no use having a Bible if you do not know what it means. This is an encyclical, which means it is for general use, and general distribution. If you read it, there is no real secrets revealed, and there is a lot to say for it's scholarship.
It is a statement of faith backed up by reason.
