I need to replace the rear speakers in my car. Evidently, a Monsoon factory setup can limit the options for aftermarket speakers.

Typically with the Grand Am/Prix Monsoon systems, the speakers are running off a factory amplifier. What I've found in my experiences is that there are two rear speaker wires per side, one set for higher frequencies and one set for lower frequencies. I had to install some Memphis Car Audio 6x9's in a 2002 Grand Am and in order to make the work properly, I had to wire the high frequency wires directly to the tweeter of the speaker. You will be able to distinguish which is which in this setup as the higher frequency wires will only emit just that: higher freqs.

Though I'm not completely certain if the Prix's are like that for 04 but it's highly likely and would be easy to see just by looking at the underside of the speakers in the trunk. You may actually see two sets of wires going to each speaker. Of course, when you pull the rear deck, you'll know for certain.

Good luck!

I replaced my rear speakers with 6x9 Infinity Capas. There great for your mids and your highs. I have a 2001 Bonneville.
