I have tried putting it on the teat but its mouth is so small it can't latch on. They mom is trying to care for her but she will just lay under the other pups to keep warm. She was the first born and is a little bit smaller but when I put the other ones on the teat they all took to it but this little girl can't I have tried to open her mouth but it is so tiny it's even hard to do that. All I have is evap milk , water, egg yolk do you have to have the karo? I have some dark karo will that work? If so how much of it a tiny bit? PLEASE HELP!!!!

milk replacement-local pet store you will need a syringe.

try getting it to suck by placing a nipple size object by its mouth, if this works re-introduce it to the nipple, they have "baby" bottles for pups.

Emergency call to vet.

The runts are often the weakest and therefore left to die if the "human mom" doesn't step in. If you can get either the mothers milk or a milk replacement, you need to bottle feed any amount (since it won;t nurse at all ...any is better than none) at least every two hours. Once it starts taking to that you can slowly increase the amounts until it will eat on it's own until full. Remember that little puppies will only nurse for short periods of time but do it frequently. It will be a lot of work but as long as it isn't truley ILL and you have the persistance, you might be able to save it. Just about any store with animal supplies will have the needed bottle and milk replacer. Don't forget to "stimulate" the puppy to go to the bathroom too. Puppies need this.(use a small cloth to rub the puppies bottom to get it to go).

Go to the pet store and get a can of puppy supplement food and an eyedropper or a syringe. When you put the formula into the pups mouth make sure you aim up to the roof of it's mouth. Do not shoot the formula straight down because there is a chance of the formula going the the wrong passage-way directly into it's lungs. You could unintentionally drown your pup.

I have a recipe for homemade puppy formula, but it figures, I can't find the book it's in. The canned from the pet store is just as good. Hope your pup is okay.

You could go to your local pet store and purchase a nursing bottle and nipples, along with milk replacer especially designed for newborns. Give the puppy the option of drinking from the bottle but be sure not to force it, let it suck at it's own speed. Read the directions with the milk on how to hold, how much to give, and how often. Some pups don't nurse from mom right away so I wouldn't worry too much until it's been a full day. But it is still good to have the bottles on hand just in case.

It may be the case that the runt is too small and may be too weak to feed from mum, keep pup warm and try some pal puppy milk at luke warm temperature in a baby bottle or smaller teat over a bottle if u have one. good luck

Will the pup not nurse or the mother won't allow the pup to nurse. For whatever reason, Mom's seem to know when a pup isn't going to make it and will shun it not allowing it to eat. If it is the pup, I would con't. to try and attach her to a tit. You might want to get a puppy supplement that you could bottle feed or give water every 1/2 hour to keep it from dehydrating. Please believe me when I say I'm not trying to be cruel, but frequently not all the pups survive. It's natures way of having the strong survive. Your runt may die, that may be a good thing for the pup might suffer a lot if you try and intervine. Sorry, but I hope your litter does well.

Deffinitly keep the pup warm and if there is someone who can watch the dog and pups for you or maybe someone who can run out to the store for you get the supplement and dropper (bottle probably won't work if unable to suck) and you will have to stay up all night feeding every 2-3 hrs like a baby to try to save it. My dad bred Poms and I got the runts twice and he spent all night fighting for the little girls to live and finally after I think it was 2 or 3 days they finally sucked and latched. Good luck

Rule of thumb is 1cc of replacement milk per 1 oz of puppy weight every 2 hrs for thefirst 24 hrs. Then go to every 3 hrs.
Use evaporated milk/water with one egg yolk and a little bit of Karo syrup for tonight OR better yet, go to CVS and get plain Pedialyte.
As others have said warmth is VERY important. I use a small cooler and a hot water botlle.... use a towel over th bottle.... use a loose towel as a cover for the cooler to keep the warmth in.

Get milk special milk from a pet store. Get a Baby bottle and try to get milk out of the mother to that. Watch the other puppies to see how long they nurse do the same with the runt. I hope you can help the pup.

You need some puppy formula and an eye dropper. If it is too weak to nurse the mom, it will be too weak to suck a bottle. It is too late to get the puppy formula from the vet or pet store, but some walmarts carry it. Follow the directions on the can. Make sure the milk is warm. Keep the puppy warm also, on a heating pad. Hope it will be okay.

The first 24 hrs are the most critical for newborn pups.
It's common for one or more to die :o(
As others advised, you could buy some puppy replacement milk, and try to bottle feed it, and/or try to help it nurse from the mother, but there's guarantee that it'll survive, you must try though. Wish you and the pup the best.
