Eat 25% less calories. If you normally eat 2000, then eat 1750 calories a day. Add walking 30 minutes a day. And a yoga class once a week for muscle work.

Eat more green salads, vege soups, cut back on bread, eat wholewheat bread or sourdough bread when you do but not as much of it, add seeds (raw pumpkin, sunflower) raw almonds. And lots of fresh fruit, fresh veges.

Add drinking tea, or flavored water. Cut out drinks with calories.

First, cut out salt. That will let the extra water out of you and could mean a few pounds. It's much heathier for your heart, too. It isn't easy and means you have to read all labels. You also have to do a lot of your own food preparation, because things like canned soup have tons of salt. If you like sandwiches, see if you can get a bread machine. Read the bread wrapper. TV dinners? Nope...read the package.

Next, cut out fats. I buy skim milk, and use powdered milk as a creamer. No-fat yogurt (with fruit) and no-fat sour cream. I still fry some things with a little butter (unsalted) but also use vegetable oil, and sometimes mix a little butter in for flavor. As someone noted, if you can't live with it you won't. You don't have to make all these changes at once. Try one thing at a time.

Next, get smaller dishes to eat from. It's proven that you serve yourself less food if the plate is smaller. If it's larger, you automatically take more food until it "looks right", completely disregarding portion size. Get smaller utensils and when you eat, eat. Or speak with others at the table. People who multi-task at the table eat more, even if that other task is only watching TV.

If you reduce salt, reduce fat, reduce portion size, eat slowly enough to actually notice when you're satisfied, and exercise 20-30 minutes a day (and this can be ten minutes at a time, or when watching TV)...well, it just doesn't get any cheaper than that. How quickly this works is up to you.

By the way, cut out fully sweetened soda. A slosh of bottled lemon or lime juice in a glass of water is cheaper. Even heavily iced ice water can satisfy the need to sip.

Don't forget to indulge yourself REASONABLY one day a week as your reward. A half-gallon of ice cream isn't reasonable, just for example.

I took Adipex. You have to get it from your doctor. It was WONDERFUL! I gained 63 lbs for my little girl and then i started to take that and lost about 30 lbs in 2 months or a little less. I DID NOT gain any of it back. But normally you have to go to your doctor for that or go to a weight loss program around your area. They will give you some prescribed diet pills but they are more expensive. Ask your doctor and get it filled at Walmart and get generic. That is the cheapest way to go. I am currently trying to lose weight from my second one and for some reason, that didn't work for me this time. But then again, my body I guess accepts meds only when wanted. I don't know what the deal is. But try it out and good luck!

The cheapest and most effective method is this. Sensible low calorie diet, exercises, and a commitment or a new "mind set",to help with stress and temptation to quit or cheat.Stay away from those expensive diet pills, they don't ever work, and come with side effects. One of the best diets out there is "The South Beach" diet,it's working for me and thousand's of others. Take care. SW RNP

Diets do not work. 99% of people gain the weight back. No one teaches the animal what to eat and what not to eat. He knows instinctively what to eat. Humans also have the same instinct. The way it works is just eat whatever tastes good and that will be healthy for you and non-fattening. That is why a baby tastes everything. So again whatever tastes good, is good for you. This is why you will spit out spoiled milk.

But wait!!! Man has the technology to create rat poison. It tastes like healthy food (good taste) but kills the rat. So man has done that to you. Note-- any food unaltered by man (uncooked) that tastes good, is good for you. So if you are stranded in the woods, that is how you know what to eat (cooking changes that). So man has created fake fruit. It tastes like fruit that exists in nature but it is terrrible for health, addictive and fattening called sweets.

So it is natural to like real sweets called fruit, like a baby does, but they have fooled you just like the rat. But they do not want to kill you. They want you to become obese so you will buy lots of their foods. This is called GOOD BUSINESS. Learn how to nourish your body thin, instead of starving your body fat. See site below.
