Because we often fear that which we do not understand. Instead of doing something of value, we just take out frustration with thoughtless words. Anyone who truly knows God knows that God loves us all, and he wants us to love each other--this leaving out the need for considering anyone as scum.

I don't know but I love Atheists. They are some of the most amazing and intriguing people I've ever met. It's so incredible to converse with one who has well thought out views. Many of them do - they are not all angry negative Christian bashers!

I'm not sure. While i am a Christian and don't necessarily understand Atheist, i wouldn't say they or anybody else was scum.
