Eat lots of protein, fruits and veggies and drink lots of water. Don't stuff yourself. Learn to like feeling hungry before you eat, and stay busy.
Your stomach shrinks in a few days of eating less, and then you'll feel satisfied with smaller meals.
Keep carbs high fiber (fills you up without calories) and to a minimum, since sugar and starch increase your appitite.
Do a short exercise routine every day...something you don't hate doing.

Losing weight is a simple calorie-based equation. If you eat more calories than you work off, you gain weight. Thus, there are two ways to lose weight - either cut some calories out of your diet or work out more. For diet issues, try http://www.calorie-count.com and keep track of what you eat. The most important diet rules for me were to strictly limit snack food (no soda, chips, candy) and eat more apples, pears, oranges, and salads (without fatty dressing). Also, it isn't hard to work out 4-5 times a week, just remember that doing anything is better than sitting in front of a tv or computer.

I would also like to address the Atkins diet - it is great for rapid weight loss, but not for sustained weight loss, because Atkins' is not a diet that you will want to stay on forever, and when you stop it, you'll gain all of the weight back. Instead of a fad diet, try keeping your fat as 20-30% of your total calories, protein as 15-25%, and carbs as 45-65% (it is important that most of these are GOOD carbs - basically anything but processed sugar (fruits, wheat breads instead).

Finally, some people try to lose too fast. You should never consume fewer than 1200 calories a day - meaning the celery diet is out. Your body needs about this many calories to continue functioning normally.

Hope that helps. Be healthy.

I just started a new program this past Wednesday. Have you heard of the pill "Fahrenheit"??? That's what I've been taking. And, I just weighed myself today and measured my bust, waist, hips, thigh, calf and arm, and so far (within 2 days) I've lost 4 inches! I feel great. Last time I weighed myself was on Wednesday when I started it and I weighed 145 pounds. I don't have a scale right now, so I don't know how much weight I have lost. The people and Modulators will help you with ANY questions and all that you have. I want to be down to around 115-120 pounds by the end of April, so hopefully I will get there. They have a meal plan too to go with it. I feel great..... go to the website and check it all out for yourslelf. People have before and after pics up there too. If you're interested in it, sign up with them (it's free). Let me know if you have anymore questions. I'm on that site too. email me if you have any problems or anything. Good Luck!

The key word here is "trying."
Trying implies failure.
Just do it.
You know it's the snacking that's sabotaging your efforts. Stop snacking. You CAN. (I know you're saying "I can't.")
It's just that you won't at the moment, and you'll continue to eat too much until you're ready to stop. And succeed.
You don't weigh all that much. You don't have much weight to lose. Once you get started, it'll be gone in no time.
The trouble with diets is that they force you to THINK about food all the time, and that makes you obssess about food.
Eat the same thing every day, at the same times of day, no exceptions. Eat very small meals, no snacking. Exercise somewhat, like a brisk, one-mile walk.
Eat breakfast. It fills you up for half a day. Otherwise, you'll be starving by lunch time and - yes - overeat.

Most of all, don't give up. If you mess up, just start again. Takes a while, but you CAN do it. For only about10 pounds weight to lose, you can do it fast.

well. don't go into a crash diet cuz thats not good, what you wanna do is make sure you drink lots of water, water speeds up ur metabolism, next you wanna eat 2/3good healthy meals that will fill you up, but not too much, then you wanna work out.

You might want to meet with a nutritionist and a personal trainer to come up with a healthy diet/fitness plan.
Your doctor could also check your thyroid.
