Why not ban cars? Everybody knows that people speed and drive under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

It's not the software that drags you too the illegal download link, it's the idiot's that rather steal then pay for it, Like the previous comment, "Why Not Ban Cars"? They are used daily as massive weapons in the hand's of idiotic drunks who kill people... Limewire and Kazaa both are good Software Programs, like alot of other ones, they get used for the wrong purpose that was intended to begin with...

Well, the makers of it may or may not have bad intentions, but when you download it you say in the license agreement that you will not use it illegally and limewire/kazaa/etc. holds no responsibility for users actions.

Because not everyone uses them illegal things.
Also, they can't just 'shut them down'. The nature of the networks is such that there are no central servers, etc.
They could stop offering the program, but people would still use it.
