Looking into the insights as a doctor, that's cool. I'm a sophomore year student myself with the same goal.

First of all, everybody starts with 4 years in college as an undergraduate. If you want to extend your limits, then the minimum of years after you receive your degree as an undergraduate is 8 years.

For types of doctors, you can go to this site: http://www.swedish.org/body.cfm?id=1097&oTopID=1050

I wouldn't want to waste your time explaining each and every kind of doctor, whereas you are looking for specific ones. So check it out.

Normally it takes 8 years of higher education (four years of college and 4 of medical school, plus an internship) to become a general practitioner, the kind you mentioned in your question. However, some schools, with a medical school, have a six-year program plus an internship.

If you are really serious about becoming a doctor, start taking as many biology and science courses as you can right now; and you'd better apply yourself and achieve high grades because the competition is very stiff for getting into med school.
