This computer is OLD! 1999 old. It's a Hewlett Packard Pavilion 6545C using Windows 98 Second edition.

Anyways, this friend had some trouble with programs randomly shutting down when he minimzed them so he reformatted his computer and now the ethernet drivers are missing. I've used PC Wizard 2007 to identify the card and it actually gives me 2 models, the first being Realtek Semiconductor RT8139 (I've tried finding drivers for this and have come up with nothing) and the second card, the one that is shown in the actual network tab of PC Wizard, is HP EN1207D-TX. I downloaded 2 files claiming to be the drivers for this, however, when I attempt to install them from the file I get the message "Unable to locate drivers for this device" Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

maybe you should try calling HP and getting the actual restoration disc for the computer.. it should have all the required drivers and such. i had a similar problem with my laptop... it ****** up completely and all i had to do was reinstall windows xp on it. it worked and all but none of the components (like the widescreen, graphics card, etc.) would work. got the restore disc though and everything worked just as it should

Go to the web site of the PC's manufacturer and look in their "support" or "drivers/download" section. They should have all the drivers for your model.
