Hi there! First of all, I would debate the idea that we need dairy products. It's important to realize that many civilizations have existed with little or no dairy intake. The intake of dairy products is mostly a western phenomenon, and the reasons for this are largely environmental. OK, so back to your question. My guess is that these folks who are criticizing cheese are doing so mostly because of the saturated (animal) fat content. Animal fats have been given a bad name recently, and also fat is calorically dense, meaning that a small quantity of it by weight contributes quite a few calories to the diet. Also, cheese has the tendency to "block you up" - meaning, it can sort of prevent you from staying 'regular' if you eat too much of it. Hope this helps -- Andrew

Cheese and dairy for that matter are not good for you. Humans were not meant to consume cow's milk and it does more damage to your body than it does good. It does not digest easily and is known to sit in your intestines for a very long period of time and may be a possible cause of colon cancer. Cheese is also filled with cholesterol and fat.

I lurve cottage cheese and splenda.
It all really comes down to keeping cheese intake within our diets.
ie, I'm not gonna eat 4 pounds of cheddar cheese and have a single baby carrot; its gotta all balance out.
Remember that thing with eggs? And atkins? Milk went down 20 cents!
Eh, you'll never get too far listening to what other people have to say.
Feel GOOD about eating CHEESE.

Your body has no "need" for dairy products.
Humans are the only animal that consumes dairy products after infancy, and the dairy we consume isnt even from our own species!
In fact most people are what we in the west call "lactose intollerant" which makes it sound like its unusual to not be able to digest lactose, when in fact the ability to do so is unusual.

Cheese, more than other dairy products, contains a surplus of fat. The kind of fat it contains tends to be stored in unpleasent areas, such as under the arms, under your chin, on your thighs, and your butt, causing double chins, cellulite, etc. Plus, some of the fat oils can affect your digestive tract, causing constipation. But in reality, you'd have to eat a whole lot of cheese to really worry about it.

Only because of the fat and sodium content. I don't think is anything wrong with cheese as long as you eat it in moderation (1 ounce per day, for example)

Because it's high in fat. Moderation counts with many things, including cheese.

It is good for you in moderation, if you eat a slice or two it is fine, just do not sit down and eat the whole package.
