My family and my husband's family seem to have just as many stories about their dogs as they do their kids. What's your favorite story about your dog?

Not necessarily your current dog...stories about the dogs in doggie heaven are just as good!

I took my dog over to my grandparents house one day. We were all eating dinner and he was begging so my grandma gave him a shirmp. He took it in his mouth and spit it on the floor. He picked it up several times but never ate it. When he finally decided he didn't want to eat it he hiked his leg and peed on it. My great-grandmother was there too and her jaw dropped.

My 5 1/2 month Bichonpoo was at the vet being spade. She had to stay the night. When I came to get her the next morning the vet placed her on the exam table and was showing me the incision and explaining aftercare instructions. I was leaning on the other side of the exam table. Esperanza wiggled away from the vet and came over to me and curled up in my arms. She let out a sigh as if to say she was relieved to finally be with her mommy again.

We had sandy a male Corgi who caught the train by himself after going with our son each day one station to school he had to go to the other platform to do it he did this for about 4 years. Now we have a very small bitsa dog who got out at six months and we thought we have lost our Elphi but at ten am the local vet rang and said Elphi was on his door mat when he came into work .It was the only other place Elphi had been other than our home We have thought about buying him his own cell phone in case he gets lost

I am guessing you mean a current dog- but mine is about a former dog of mine who has passed on to Doggy Heaven- she never had to be put on a chain- her name was Stormie- she always stayed in our yard unless I went to the post office or to the bars in our town( only a very sm. town) if I was gone for more than 1 hour she would come to look for me up by the bars and if my car window was down she would just jump into the car and wait for me to come out!! One time she must have accidentally bumped the horn on her way thru the window because it stuck and I had to go out and disconnect the horn!! Which also made me go home!!

my old dog mindi lived to be 18, and she was a yorkshire terrier. my favorite story of her was actually captured in a home video. my sister who is now 17 was 4 at the time and was sleeping on our couch. then my dad took mindi and put her on my sisters face...mindi wouldnt stop licking her and my sister was shouting in her sleep. my other favorite was also with mindi and my sister. my sister was semi-afraid of mindi when she was a puppy because she was soo hyper. so my sister was in her bed under the covers and my dad put mindi in with her while she was really hyper. so mindi started chasing her under the covers and all that you can hear on the home movie is my sister screaming and my dog barking and you can see 1 little bump chasing the other. it was hysterical!

i had a collie named buddy he was a house dog we live in town he had never met the neighbors across the street before. one evening i was cooking dinner in the summer and buddy came in the kitchen and jumped on my leg and biting my shirt and then he nipped my calf and ankle at first it scared me i thought he was flipping out i couldnt figure out what was wrong he kept doing this and running to the front door i thought he has never acted this way to go out before i went to the door to let him out and the neighbors kids ages 3 & 2 were playing in the street. i ran out and got them and came back and buddy was fine. he saved there lives i have no doubt about that because we live in a dip where there are hidden driveways signs you cant see out driveways til you get there someone would have come over that hill there is no way they could have stopped in time...

my family got a golden retreiver, Sashie, when I was 13.

I was an only child. You know how parents mix their kid's names up? My mom would mix me up with Sashie. (I guess we both had the same color hair...)

One day when I was about 16 I was sitting on the couch and Sashie clambered up next to me, tail thumping. My mom was doing dishes and fired off the following orders:

Sashie, Take out the Trash!
Lalabee, get down off the couch!

So I got down off the couch and sat patiently on the floor. After a minute or too my mom looked at me and said "why haven't you taken out the trash yet?"

I said "mom, you told Sashie to take out the trash and me to get down off the couch. I did what I was told - yell at her."

our 14 year old lab was getting very old & frail. he started growing at my wife every time she got near him but not at me. after 2 weeks he started growling at me , too. by then he could hardly move anymore. we knew that it was time to put him down. when we went to the vet , we wondered if he would let us pet him one more time. not only did he let us pet him without growling at us , but he licked both of us on our faces. it was as if he knew he was going to a better place & just wanted to say goodbye & thank you.
