I presume u mean a microwave oven. The radiation leakage from a good home microwave oven is very small and should not cause any harm to a human standing nearby for a short period. However, prolonged exposure to a microwave oven (eg a waitress who stand next to one for 8 hours a day) is definitely not good. Hence it is good not stand next to one for a prolonged period. It can caused bodily harm if it is not working properly, cancer is a possibility.

I don't think so. The energy that comes out of it is not radio active.

This microwave causes cancer is a myth

The microwave in your kitchen is built to focus most of the radiation to your food and shield outside emissions.

Also - Microwaves are much lower energy that UV - in fact, it's lower in frequency that most visible light in the EM spectrum.

High energy waves like those from radioactive decay (ie. uranium/plutonium... radiactive poisoning) release gamma radiation that damages DNA, which is found strongly to lead to cancer, and death. Also, UV rays are high energy beams that also damage DNA - which may result in cancer.

The fact that microwave radiation is lower in frequency and energy (pound per pound - as a matter of speaking) compared to visible light, it most likely cannot give you cancer.

Hope this helps.

Nobody knows yet.

A microwave emits non-ionising radiation, so do cell phones. Researchers are still trying to confirm any possible link to cancer from non-ionising radiation, but it is thought to be harmless at the moment.

radiation isnt good but i dont think you will get cancer from the microwave, they would have to put a warning sign on the box if that were case
