Here is a thought to start.. It would appear that Iraq's are killing more Iraq's than American troops.
They do their cowardly car bombs in a pet market and how many US troops are in there shopping for a pet?
It is like the US is in a crossfire between the various factions attempting to gain control of the country for their own self-serving reasons. We don't have the problem in Afganistan because we are not caught in the middle of a civil war.
The militants are also COWARDS because THEY KILL INNOCENTS to cause disruption in the country; "Join us in our fight or we will KILL YOU".
How about this, "Become a Democrat or we will car bomb you".
We try to settle our differences by VOTING in the US! It takes a little more time, but when was the last time someone's will was forced upon you through a death threat?
I have always been a proponent of removing the cracks in the society so the militants arguments vanish.
Create jobs, education and a comfortable way of life for the citizens of Iraq; the sales pitch of the militants vanishes.
20K more will balance the odds of tracking down the militants and protecting the citizens at the same time.
THANKS for your SERVICE

20,000 more troops will do several things.
a) It will make it look like there are more soldiers then insurgents, that way it will look like the Americans are winning the war. It will also make Bush look better for his upcoming election.
b) It will send more bodies to the grave, with about 10% or more of those 20,000 soldiers will be killed, leaving there family, friends, and relatives behind in a horrid mess.
c) It will help reinforce other troops in Iraq. The Australians, The Brits and the other countries who have decided to stay will be helped out by the large force of men.
I hope this answers your question. You must feel really terrible after witnessing such a horrendous thing happen to a fairly innocent country!

I don't think it will make any difference sending 20,000 or 200,000 troops into Iraq the war is going to get worse anyway, I just want our troops to come home soon I am sick of hearing about our young brave men and women being slaughtered every day for what? I just think it's a senseless cause, If President Bush had a son or daughter over there I wonder how he would feel about the war then, I pray for them all daily.

a better idea is to send 50,000, not 21,500. that's so that we could invade IRAN. iraq, much in its civil war misery, is eventually going to choose some type of government, and if not, it really is not our problem.
but a true problem DOES exist in iran: they are developing THE BOMB. do you think that they will point it at the USA or not? do you think that they may sell some of them to other terrorists so that they too can point them at us?
look back at what happened with our embassy hostages in iran when jimmy carter was president. if the madmen think that we are weak, they will surely do everything they can to KILL YOU and to KILL ME. they hate us. they call us the infidel. they have no desire to live under democracy; they want islamic conformity.
i'm so sorry you were there, so sorry it hurt you. but you know yourself, having been there, that you were there for good reason. be proud of your work.

I know you don't really want an honest answer to this question, but I'm going to give it anyway.
First of all, more troops can better guard the borders of Iran and Syria, where most of the insurgents are flooding in from.
They can also hold areas that US forces clear out long enough for Iraqi security to take over.

I wish I can give you better answer, but Bush don't have any better answer for your question either. Just more troops and controlling Green Zone more, this mean more US soldiers killed.

Relieve the pressure on the troops we have there already.
We still have more people killed on the streets of our major cities everyday than we have killed in Iraq. Auto accidents, robberies, murder, drugs, and rival gangs take it's toll on countless lives but nobody is screaming about them.
No, everyone wants to get on their soapbox , bash the President, not support our troops, and back out on helping the people would need our help. The ones that would walk up to my son who served two years there, and thank him for giving them back their freedom, their dignity, and their lives.
Nobody wants to hear about the HORRORS of war. They don't want to see it on the news at 6 and 10. They want to sleep in a comfortable bed and pretend it will stay over there. BUT IT WON'T. It will come back. 911 won't be the last.
Do I have a better idea? Yeah, but you won't like it! We would have to be the people the terrorist preach we are. Evil, ugly, killing machines, infidels bent on wiping out their way of life.
If we were like the monsters they claim we are, we would nuke them into the stone-age. But we aren't.

We're losing, the media is gonna tell lies like the government, come on folks, the price of gasoline declined for a while yet people still died over there and that additional # of troops are gonna fight in vain just like the previous ones.

No you see, it's going to somehow stop a muslim in New York from setting off a bomb???
Yeah, you're right 20000 more troops is going to do absolutely nothing. If the man had any balls he would have sent 100,000 more troops even though that still would not have changed the end result.
