God was there with those people. Yes, there were many killed during 9/11 and it was very sad, but God was still there. Read the stories of all the people that were able to survive. Even more, what about all the people that had a "feeling" and didn't go to work that day. Or the people who were tied up in traffick or for some reason were late, even when it was out of the ordinary for them. God could have stopped 9/11 from happening, but he didn't. One of the gifts he gave us is free will. The terroists chose to step out of God's will and due to cause & effect, their plan to kill others worked. You may not see it now, but they will have their punishment.
As for the people in other countries who are killed for their belief, it may be sad and hard for his family, but if he believed in Jesus enough to die for him, then I'm sure it was probably an honor to be killed in His name. It is those that are martyred for Jesus' name that will have a high place in Heaven. Missionaries go in knowing that there is a risk they are taking, but that risk is nothing compared to knowing that they could help save people who would otherwise never know who Jesus was. Even if only one person is saved, then it is worth it.
I know it's hard to understand these things. It takes a lot to grasp how it all works. Only in the last 5 years as an adult was I able to understand it. All I can say is take it upon yourself to read the Bible. Don't rely on the church to teach you the truth. Find out the answer to these questions for yourself. They are all there in the Bible.

9-11 was judgment. It may not seem like judgment but in due season, America will see that it was. You have to understand, God invested in this nation as believers allowed Him in. Today's American is far...far far far from God. They give Him nothing...no honor, no fear, no obedience. What do you expect? God takes His time when it comes to judgment, but it must come to such a people as this.
Well, God has been very patient with America. Americans belittle and degrade God and many don't believe He is even there. Gay marriage? Yeah, right. And Americans are calling this moral...and the moral are called immoral.
The so called leaders...many are totally unaware of God and steer the people the wrong way. Which God? There is only one God and we all know deep down who it is: JESUS.
The whole 9-11 thing was a sign from God and the war and all of the problems that happened are because Americans are playing with fire: GOD. America was built on faith. Today's moron thinks it is all just luck. No. Our nation and its prosperity and protection came only because the foundation was Christ. Now, the people are spiritual morons...unaware of God and the dangers in playing around with Him.
So where was God? If America keeps it up, God will be smack dab dead center of its fall!
These things have happened by God's permission. Those Arabs weren't smart enough to pull this off. It was permitted by God as judgment.
How can protection remain upon the land if the people refuse Him?
Also, the people that were killed in Iraq were in a dangerous situation and they knew it.

be quick to listen and slow to reject this...
1) this is our world. The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof, but society is man's responsibility. For a spirit (even God) to operate in this, the physical realm, a spirit needs a body and/or permission. That is why a demon possesses a person, that is why we are the temple of the Holy Spirit. 9/11 and murders are mankind's fault.
2) God has not abandoned this world. It may feel like it sometimes, but He hasn't. God never promised that bad things wouldn't happen to good people. 9/11 happened because people decided to be destructive. God only intervnes when man and God's wills align, when mankind stops hindering God and allows His will to be done, both by physical and supernatural means.
3) again, you have to be saved. just believing there is a God won't save you, as the demons believe (and tremble) and nearly every religion believes a god exists.
and God's sovereign. He wants you to develop a good relationship with Him as his child, His friend, ambassador, etc. So just stay with Him, but you'll only get to Him if you choose to take his offer of salvation. thanx for reading, if you did.

It's called life. I believe in God, just not the church. God could not stop people from committing those acts of what you speak of. If he could step in everytime someone was going to die, or something tragic was going to happen, then life wouldn't be as precious as it is.
Would you live everyday as if it were your last if you knew that you were never going to be murdered, or get in a car accident? Sometimes it is very hard to think that someone is out there, someone who created all this, and sometimes I do worry. But I still believe in God.
I personally think God forgives all, and I don't think someone is not going to get into heaven because he is gay, or things like that. Murder is a different story, but I do think God forgives all, and that includes murderers!
Sometimes, I do think God or someone does step in, because there are some true stories of miracles, but I do not think God can step in every time something like 9/11 happens. You just have to believe, and if you don't then that is ok too.
Don't believe in something just because you are told to do so!

I don't believe in God, but I do believe in beneficial coincidences (or maybe you've heard the term "miracles").
I don't mean to be mean, just stating what I think about this life. And I'm not being depressed or emo about it and I'm not trying to change anyone's minds about anything.
I don't believe in God because:
He made Adam and Eve's children have sex with each other.
He made dinosaurs evolve into humans, so humans never with dinosaurs.
The Bible was put together by 40,000 men back in the day.
A long time ago, people were always gullible and surrendering to new ideas, one of them was Jesus.
He can't have a son, and even if he could, he would've had another Jesus down on our planet today.
Can God really give the gift of many languages?*
God didn't create anything in days, the Earth is at least 4.5 billion years old.
Spare ribs? How did God phsyically take it out of Adam to make Eve out of sand along with the spare ribs? I don't know.
9/11 happened because of Bush, don't blame "God."
If cloning was a sin (playing God) then those scientists are going to die (for helping us understand our world?).
How were the first people (Adam and Eve) created adult humans and not human children?
*So how did the people create so many languages in a moment (at the Babylon Tower)? I feel this part of the bible is HIGHLY impossible. Languages are gradually made, words are being added constantly. A language (especially a thousand of them) can't be made in one minute at the Tower of Babylon, and every one man is speaking something different.

God isn't responsible for the world just because he created it. Lets use the term masculine because the term Goddess is equally valid but takes more keys. We as individuals are as responsible as we want to be, but even we can't be responsible for what everyone else does, so the world gets painful at times and it can't stop because we people, like God, cannot control what always happens. The nice thing about the Christian God is that he loves and wants us to follow suit. It seems other people worship different sides of this same God and they see that God wants them to hate. With God, all things are possible, so working on making love easier than hate seems like a harder task doesn't it? Well, God knows who he can count on to do whats right and he gives us the power to overcome even hate thru Jesus, his first son. Who said we too can become Gods sons, so as long as we don't lose our faith in what God created, then we can enjoy life. At least at sixty this makes the most sense. Oh and welcome to the dance.

During 9/11 it may have appeared that God was not around but when we look at the details of how the passengers of flight 93 stopped the terrorist from distroying our capital building that was an act of divine providence using people to save our nation from a catastophy of monumental proportions.
I also saw a documentary of how the Pentagon was constructed and under renovation on the History Channel. It showed that the timing and way in which it was constructed saved many lives. Another example of a man who was a security agent in one of the twin towers predicted a terrorist attack from the sky saved numerous people by planning. Again, this was on the History Channel and demonstates how God puts the right people at the right place at the right time.
Did you know George Washington had 3 or 4 bullet holes in his vest and 2 horses shot out from under him in the French/Indian War? An indian chief recognized him years later and knew God protected him on that day.
The battle of Midway had events occur that couldn't have been coincidence for US forces to win. George Patton and Winston Churchill knew God had ordained them in history to do great things to alter the course of history. The more I learn about the intricate details of history, the more I realize God is involved in the every day affairs of men. There is much more I could tell you but I cannot relate all of what I know in this forum.
I am a Catholic and have discovered in the Great Books of the Western World, a 54volume set in the reference section of the library, the works of St. Thomas Aquinas in vol. 19 & 20. He gives 5 proofs of God's existence. If you want me to send it to you just let me know.
The Marine Corps motto is Semper Fidelis (always faithful). We are not alone in our fight against evil!

Have you read the poem footprints?
One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life.
For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of his life flashed before him, he
looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life. This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it.
"Lord, You said that once I decided to follow you, You'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints.
I don't understand why when I needed you most you would leave me."
The Lord replied,
"My son, My precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I Carried You."
He does not promise us a bed of roses. But what he does say is that whatever we choose good or bad right or wrong he will be there. He must let us have our free will. But he will be there. I hope this helps.

God gives free will. That means that he gives humans the choice to do things. So i have the choice to kill somebody or not. Its a sad thing but many people don't listen to God but they wan't to live there own life without guidance from the lord. But the rest of being Catholic (and christian) is faith. To believe in God without always havng physical truth is quite amazing. Ask a priest some wuestions. read the bible. Go to church. Learn some prayers. Ignorance is the cause to stray from the truth. educate yourself.
May God be with you

If you only believe in something because you fear the consequences of not believing, is that belief really worth having? Fear is good when you're trying avoid harm and danger, but fear leads to a very crappy logical thought process. If you contemplate fear-based belief when you are calm and rational, you'll usually find the belief to be illogical. Put your belief in God to that test. As for your questions about where God was during those atrocities you mentioned, I think its evidence that God either isn't there or doesn't care about the everyday dealings of you and me.
