I will give you my opinions. (Sorry for the length but you asked a lot of questions! :) )

I go to church to be around fellow believers to hear the word of God & learn new things! To be there for others when they need a prayer or a shoulder to cry on, or to celebrate with. It is refreshing to be with people who care about the same things as you, and to worship God. All of the above gives praise to God.

The point is we may come into & go out of this world alone, but we don't have to go through life alone. And to have the love & support, wisdom & guidance as well as ADVICE, from fellow believers is very reassuring, & comforting.

I do not believe you must be a member of the church or even go to church, since salvation comes from a personal relationship with Christ. If you do go to Church you should become a member, so that you can better serve that community. Going to church is just like any other relationship; you need to give back equally if not more than that which you take out. As a member you give back financially as well as in many other supportive, helpful ways.

No, going to Church does not SAVE you. AS I said it is your personal relationship with Christ, which saves you. Going to church just helps teach you, and support you on your journey to find Christ & stay on his narrow path.

Well the term Christian translated means mini-Christ. So I think that a denomination that is calling them selves Christians better be teaching how to be as much like Christ as possible and His teachings, which are only found in the BIBLE. (Not the Book of Mormon!) I prefer the term non-denominational Christian because I believe what is in the Bible (however I also believe in evolution & no that doesn't conflict with my faith. God created everything that means science too!)

All Christian churches should teach Salvation through Christ & Christ only...(Not as the Catholics teach that you pray to Mary, so that Mary will tell Christ you want to be saved.)

I am not sure I understand what your last question is or is trying to get at, but the churches really have no relation to the world for they do not (at least Christian ones) teach not to hold on to earthly things. In a Christian church you learn what you are to do while here on this planet to please God, & gain salvation through Jesus Christ.

Well I hope I answered even just one of your questions, in a way that will help you. Good luck on your speech. I will be praying for you.

Well I can tell you why I go to church; many reasons. I attend a church called Calvary Chapel. It is a wonderful bible teaching church. It is also alive with the spirit of Christ and we sing and praise God. I learn so much and I enjoy fellowshipping with other people who are devoted to God's word. No one is a "member" there, you just go. No, you don't have to go to church to be saved. We are saved by our faith in Christ. But finding a good bible teaching church, it's such a wonderful gift. I would say any church that adheres to the bible is fine...there are many these days that have compromised God's word. A church that bends to the culture of the day is a church that will fall. Good luck with your speech!

You might be interested in Article 18 of the Belgic Confession, which involves several paragraphs on how "everyone is bound to join himself to the true Church". It describes all men being "in duty bound to join and unite themselves with it; maintaining the unity of the church; submitting themselves to the doctrine and discipline thereof; bowing their necks under the yoke of Jesus Christ; and as mutual members of the same body, serving to the edification of the brethren, according to the talents God has given them".

There are other Articles that identify the one true church, but I think you are going to find a gray area as to what all Christian churches believe since there is some ambiguity as to whether certain churches can be labeled Christian or not.

I think a lot of people go to church to commune and fellowship with people who believe in the same things that they do, and to strengthen those beliefs. There's something empowering about feeling united with a group. The church provides that feeling of power. People also go because it's what they've been brought up to do. They grew up with the practice of getting up on Sunday (or Saturday if you're 7th day adventist) and going to church. For some it's their main social outlet. There are as many reasons for people to go to church as there are people.

To visit God in his house, to pray as a community with other who share the same faith, to be strengthened in one`s faith to go back out in the world and try to live a good life, As a Catholic, although we acknowledge other christian churches, in is inconceivable to us to not be attending the true church which has the true body and blood of Jesus... We also go to strengthen each other in their faith. Churches are there to guide us in our faith jouney so we don`t get lost along the way and to understand the world from our faith point of view.

The Bible says not to forsake the assembling of yourselves together, much more so as you see the day approching.

If you are a real Christian you must be born again and repent of your sins and accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

If you don't go to church as a Christian you are in disobediance and therefore cant' expect God to bless disobediance.

Some of them give away free doughnuts and coffee but the coffee tends to be awful.

Edit: Wine? Is it good or the cheap stuff?
