If I were looking for a religion, what would you suggest? I want the truth.

I wouldn't suggest a religion. I would suggest a RELATIONSHIP with the Creator of the universe, Jesus Christ Himself. He LONGS to have His creation come to Him desirous to fellowship with Him; but before we can truly fellowship with Him we must understand that there is a barrier between us right now. It's called SIN. It is for this EXACT reason that God; ie JESUS, knowing there was no other way to reconcile us back to Himself, needed to suffer the penalty for our sins personally on the Cross; taking our place. Once we accept His free Gift of Salvation, through repentance of our sins and asking Him to forgive us, we are now reconciled BACK to Him, and the lines of communication are open and clear, and may I add EVER so SWEET!

He loves us so very, very, much!!

If you want the truth, you will have to search for it the same way I did. You can't believe something, just because someone tells it to you. Read the different holy books of a few different religions, and the truth will ring true to you, like they did to me. Trust me it is all their in black and white. I am will not tell you atheism is the way, I encourage you to seek it out for yourself, as this is the only way to truly be free if the brainwashing that most religions practice. Religion is it's own worst enemy, look at how many times, different sects of the christian church have broken off. Why is that? Because people find things they don't agree with. With so many different sects, that amounts to alot of people not agreeing on what is said in the bible or quran or whatever religion. Don't you think that if any of them were really the word of god, people would look at it and find it ALL enlightening? If it is the word of god, why do people pick and chose what they believe? They do it because it is the word of man, and we all know man isn't perfect.

Well, this question is probably going to make things harder for you since everyone is going to suggest their own faith. I would suggest that you take this quiz or if this isn't the type of thing you're looking for, then just go and pick a religion to research and keep doing that until you find the truth yourself. I could tell you, but you won't be satisfied unless you find it yourself.

The Quiz:

All religions point to a deity, and organised religion is the worst enemy of true spirituality since it dictates what you may or may not believe and its rules are set by humankind. Look for a religion and you look for the opinions of others.

If you want to know if it's real, try to disprove it. Test what you find. If it is real, it will stand up. Your conscience will be your guide if you are sincere, but I wouldn't bother with looking for a religion, I'd look for God. He can be found.

Been there, done that Found God in the Christian experience, not to be confused with the church itself.

Good luck. :)

Have you ever heard of Joseph Smith? He was in a simialr situation as you. He was very confused about what the true religion was. He kept on going to all of these different churches and they all said the same thing, that they were the true church, but they never have any explanation as to why. This made him even more confused. He was already a regular reader of the Bible. But one day he came across a verse in James saying "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God." So he decided to pray to God. For the rest of the story, check out the following web page. You may find it very helpful and interesting. Also on that page, there are other things to look around at on the rest of that site.

I'm tired of people saying that you should go with Christianity and how it can't be proven wrong. o.O I'm now annoyed, so now, I shall post a video, which is mildly amusing. READ THIS DISCLAIMER BELOW BEFORE VIEWING THE LINK

Disclaimer: THESE VIDEOS ARE NOT MY WORK. DO NOT WATCH THIS IF YOU ARE A FAITHFUL BELIEVER AND EASILY OFFENDED. IF YOU DO WATCH THIS AND YOU ARE OFFENDED BY THIS, DO NOT HATE ME, AS I HAVE TOLD YOU IN THIS DISCLAIMER THAT YOU SHOULD NOT WATCH THIS IF YOU ARE FAITHFUL BELIEVER AND ARE EASILY OFFENDED. IF YOU IGNORED THE DISCLAIMER, DO NOT HATE ME FOR POSTING THIS LINK, BECAUSE I ASKED YOU TO READ THE DISCLAIMER.

AGAIN, I ASK YOU TO READ THE DISCLAIMER ABOVE BEFORE VIEWING THESE VIDEOS. Go to godisimaginary.com and see these videos that are labeled on the left panel:

-Proving that nobody can get into heaven <-- The amusing video mentioned above
-Proving that prayer is superstition
-The Best Optical Illusion In The World!
-Proving that God's Plan is impossible

And the answer to your question, sorry bout the rant above. Look up on a religion you think is right, and if it has the same ideals and philosophy as you do, then it could be the right religion for you.

If you were looking for a religion....I'd suggest that you think about why you're looking for a religion.

are you 'religion-shopping?' what a waste of time...if you're looking for 'a religion', then you might as well go back to watching cable movies and eating nachos or whatever...'religion' will do nothing for you...however, if you're looking for God and answers to your life here on earth and forever, then my honest and sincere suggestion is to check out Jesus Christ-read what He said and did...look at the fulfillment of ancient prophesy that He accomplished...read how He treated people He encountered and what He taught...good luck and God bless you

The one that feels like you... the one that feels like home... the one that makes sense to you...

I looked at my self and thought about how I lived my life... I went searching for a religion that felt normal, natural for me. I didn't want to change any of my life to fit my religion (I figured it was good enough). I figured if I didn't find one then it was not meant to be. I wanted to enrich my life not stifle it.

I found Buddhism. It may be right for you... it might not... Just try them out, read, learn, visit. And if one doesn't seem right.. move on to the next. And if after all that you can't find one... then maybe you are not meant to have one...

Good luck

Depends on who you are and where you live and what beliefs you already have. I need more information.

I am an Episcopalian and that works for me. If I could not be that I would be RC or Orthodox. If not that, then Buddhist or Taoist. If not that maybe Wicca or Gnostic. (I would be an Atheist again if the choice were only Fundamentalist Christian or Islam.)
