Hi Step-hunny-
funny that you say you are in the insurance business in Florida... This is where the break in occurred... the car was locked... We are not from Florida, but I was just wondering about police report procedures in FLA- can he just go to a police station to do so? does he have to call and have someone come out? or can he just file it on the phone, and be mailed something? He can't call his insurance people until Monday so we won't know exactly what the policy covers... but there's apx $3000 worth stolen... he's very upset... (more upset that all his spreadsheets/excel files are gone... no dollar value on those!)

A police officer must come out to the scene. 2 years ago the laws were changed in FL. and police reports are not available until 3-5 weeks after the incident. They'll just give you a case number.

Why can't you phone your insurance until Monday? Most insurances have 24/7 Customer Service.
