Electricity was invented by God in the year 0.

In the1800's, British scientists first discovered how to send electric current through wires. Then this discovery led to Thomas Edison's development of a practical electrical lighting system. He was an American. Now Ben Franklin invented the lightning rod between 1706-1790.

Electricity was not invented, it is a property of nature and thus "discovered". The ancient Greeks knew of electricity through experimentation with static charges, but it wasn't until the beginning of the industrial revolution timeframe when English, German, French and Italian scientists began to understand how to manipulate, generate, and measure electricity. These studies took place from around the 1750's.

Well, he is the only one on record to have discovered it, though I think an earlier civilization did as well..

Electricity existed in the stone age. This could be seen when two rocks were smashed together and sparks formed.
Then the dinosaurs ate the electricty.
