Crock pot idea is a good one. Try some thrift stores or garage sales. If you have a friend in the area you might even be able to borrow one. Do you have a fridge? That makes a difference too. Try getting a roasted chicken from the supermarket. If you can't eat it all at once and don't have a fridge, think about sharing the cost and food with a buddy. You can also bake potatoes in the microwave. Get some Ramen noodle soup but you don't have to have it as soup. After cooking the noodles, drain and add olive oil and Parmesan cheese. There might be other cooked foods available in the supermarket deli that you'd enjoy.

Fast food is never completely healthy, but if you apply a little pickiness then you can make it healthier: - throw away part or all of the hamburger bun - avoid ketchup (high sugar content) and mayonnaise (high fat content) - always ask for as many veggies as they'll pile on, including pickles - for the love of whatever deity you may believe in, AVOID FRENCH FRIES, there is nothing healthy about them - avoid soda and bottled juice (too much sugar); buy a sport bottle and take tap water with you wherever you go - avoid coffee (too costly) and learn to make a good cup of tea for yourself at home. Have you learned to cook? If not, try it, you may be surprised at how simple it is. And you needn't limit yourself to instant ramen noodles or kraft dinners (although those are fine once in a while), either. Find the nearest grocery stores -- not just one, you need to use more than one and watch their specials. That way you can often get nearly-fresh produce and bread at dirt-cheap prices. Do you have time for a part-time job? Restaurants are always looking for help and free food is practically guaranteed; bakeries sometimes let their staff take home the two-day-old stuff that they can't sell. If it's dry, place it in the microwave along with a cup containing a couple tablespoons of water; nuke for half a minute or a minute, and that will improve the taste and texture considerably.

At a used bookstore I found a 1988 cookbook titled The Microwave Master, by Donavan Jon Fandre. He makes everything from appetizers and soups through dinners to desserts in a microwave. With a similar book and a little creativity you can prepare yourself feasts.

Try searching the web for ideas.

The people who make the regular ramen noodles (which are AMAZING if you add some frozen vegetables to), also make these little chow mein bowls which price at a midwestern Wal-Mart for about 88 cents apiece. I live on them at school.
Also, the Campbell's and Progrfesso microwave soup bowls are a reasonably priced option for a side dish or a small meal.

I currently live in similar conditions, but I also have a small portable electric stove, but I can do burritos, Ramen Noodles, Cup O' Noodles, Hot Pockets, sandwiches, just to name a few
(I once saw Ramen Noodles for 13 cents, and during caselot sales for 10 cents) (also, you can get some spices and make Ramen Noodles taste even better... I like adding garlic salt, a touch of curry, and a couple other spices depending on what I feel like having, and what flavor the Ramen Noddles are... I can make them taste restaurant quality most of the time.)

Dried beans. Or tinned beans.

Dude I hope you're popping a multivitamin or something because you're going to get really really sick and deficient if you survive on mac and fake cheese. Like scurvy! Food is something that you shouldn't skimp on.

The food is very good in the dining hall. The prices are less than eating fast food, and better for you as well.

You need to invest in a crock pot and a toaster oven so you can do some serious cooking...they usually come with a cookbook full of simple recipes to use in your crock pot or toaster oven...if I was close to you, you would be invited to my house all the time for dinner--thank you for serving our country! Bless you!! :)
